Our pastor last night preached on how Jesus is God - come down to earth. The only religion that has that. Not us trying to reach Nirvana - but God reaching down to us - in the nitty-gritting - the earthy - even the literal crap associated with a manger. (I personally think they brought the manger into the house - but it still probably had that barn-yard stink to it).

But in doing so, Jesus confronts and transforms REAL people, REAL thinking, and REAL sins. Which - carrying that to your excerpt - He DOES transform the world - having a huge, miraculous effect on the entire earth.
