Their case is that the American Supermax prison isn’t up to European expectations for amenities, but it’s design is based on the innovations designed by the Germans for their domestic terrorists (Bader Meinhof Gang, etc.).
After a few years in solitary in a little white cube with the lights on 24x7, alone with only an unblinking camera lens, they tend to lose certain social graces, like the ability to utter coherent sentences.
