Japan is still suffering from an economic crash and deflationary spiral from the 1990s that they still haven’t fully recovered from. As a result there is a whole generation of young men still living with their parents or depending on them for financial assistance or working in dead end jobs that don’t allow them to support themselves adequately, much less a wife and family, all while living in urban centers that are among the most expensive in the world.

Meanwhile, most young Japanese women won’t even consider dating a man unless he is husband material and can support a family.

Not sure why you put in the /sarc tag. You’re probably right.

“Another word for “guest workers” is “immigrants,” unless a domestic replacement is found. “

But we’ve been told that robots were going to take all the jobs and that’s why we needed a ‘guaranteed basic income program”... I’m confused.

China just did away with their one child policy. Their population distribution will soon change.

“”not interested in or despise sexual contact”…

Like American women. No wonder the Japanese men are so ingenious with the sex robots.

“Try Harding County NM, only 0.3 people per mile.”

Too many.

I always thought Japan was seriously overly populated. A 50% decline in population might make the small island nation livable again.

I agree. Small island nation with about as many people as large land-area Russia; Russia has a lot more space to spread people around. Japan's large population is squeezed at the coastlines. They really need a decline in population to make it livable.

They just need to rebalance the economics of caring for the older generation; robotics will cure that.

My guess is that the Japanese are still having as much sex as ever - just not with each other.

This part is definitely going to happen. And.....sooner than most realize.

The Japanese are advanced in robotics, but clearly they still have a need for human staff. I’ve read that workers are coming from the Philippines. If I were a Philippine service worker, I would choose Japan over Saudi Arabia!

Machines have been taking over human jobs forever, and that’s great for humans.

Back in the late 1800 80 to 90% of people worked on farms. Today thanks to machines only 3 or 4% and we have lower unemployment.

This new fear mongering about robots taking over is just another scam by the left to hand out more welfare in the form of guaranteed income.

Japan is a leader in robotics yet have to import human workers.

This does not happen by accident. Someone is doing some serious social engineering there. Paging George Soros.....

I think this is a natural process, and will spread everywhere.

45% of Japanese women either despise or are not interested in sex?

Not a very flattering statistic for the Japanese male.

Interesting. But people are not rats. The Indians still seems to be pumping out babies and they are just as over crowded as the Japanese. There are also [rural] parts of Japan that are undergoing depopulation.

I think it is something about their culture, especially their insane work ethic and sex habits.

It actually isn’t much different from our own country. There are the mega cities and ‘fly-over’ country. The big diff is the mega cities are much more so. There are beautiful remote areas just a few hours train ride from Tokyo that are much less populated than the mid-west. But as with many here they want to ‘be were the buzz is’.

Loss of 50% of their population would not "make the small island nat5ion livable."

First, it will make their economy crash, since there will be no entry-level workers to pay for the huge numbers of older, retired Japanese.

Second, the few young they have will be even less likely to get married and have kids, since they'll already be supporting all those elders as the population average gets older and older.

Third, Japan is even now at near geno-suicide (or, if you prefer, sui-genocide) levels of non-reproduction: 30% of their population over 65, median age for women 48, total fertility rate 1.4, which is 30% lower than zero population growth.

And now, the looming mass-production of sexbots! Let's guarantee no sex with humans and no procreation!

Demography, like nature itself, despises a vacuum. This vacuum will be filled, legally or illegally, with acquiescence or with strife, by people who WILL reproduce.

And who would that be? That,--- the inevitable invasion --- subsequent to this deadly regime of birth control, abortion, sex-bots, celibacy and buggery, means curtains: The End.
