Back in 2013 we asked "Why Have Young People In Japan Stopped Having Sex?" And while that might sound like nothing more than a clever headline intended for The Onion, it was prompted by a very serious survey conducted by the Japan Family Planning Association which found that 45% of Japanese women aged 16-24 and 25% of men were "not interested in or despise sexual contact" a growing trend that has revealed itself via the nation's persistently declining birth rates. In fact, "celibacy syndrome" has become of such great concern for the Japanese government that it is considered a bit of a looming national catastrophe .a catastrophe that seems to be getting worse at an accelerating rate.
According to data released today by Japan's Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, child births in Japan will drop to just 941,000 in 2017, the lowest since data first started being recorded in 1899, and nearly 65% below the peak birth rate from the late 1940's.
As the Financial Times notes today, the persistent declines in Japanese birth rates come despite the best efforts of central planners to encourage population growth via a litany of government entitlement programs aimed at helping young families cover the cost of childrearing
The government of Shinzo Abe, prime minister, has made raising Japans birth rate a priority. On Friday it approved a budget that takes the first steps towards providing free pre-school, private high school and university education in an effort to reverse the trend.
Unless the low birth rate is reversed, the only option to increase Japans population would be for it to take in more immigrants. Yet despite high inflows of guest workers drawn by the strong economy, Japanese politicians have been reluctant to debate the subject.

The self-destruction of a civilization.
45% of Japanese women aged 16-24 and 25% of men were “not interested in or despise sexual contact”
I’ve heard that Japanese society is different from our society in some ways. And one such difference is that women in particular, perceive great difficulties in being wives and mothers in that culture. If this survey is accurate, critical masses of Japanese women are voting no to the whole notion of marriage and family, in the most personal way.
Theyre doing it wrong.
I always thought Japan was seriously overly populated. A 50% decline in population might make the small island nation livable again.
In which case there would still be islands known as Japan, but they would no longer be Japanese.
No worries, China will move in. /s
Like all social trends, this is reaching and extreme, and will self-destruct and eventually pass. Japan will be fine as long as it continues to resist the globalist/progressive/banker urge to import 3rd world immigrants and join the West in its cultural-suicide.
Japan needs Mexicans or muslims to keep their nation alive, kinda like we do.
‘A 50% decline in population might make the small island nation livable again.;
I thought Godzilla accomplished that back in the ‘50’s...it must be true, Perry Mason said so...
How can that be?
Based on their Anime, they seem to be having lots of sex over there. [/s]
A hundred years ago, it didn’t matter if a woman despised sexual contact. For the most part, she either found a man and gave him a reason to want to feed her, or she starved.
With the entrance of women into the work force, women have the option of supporting themselves, and only having sex with men who excite them, with no need for the man to have to commit to support them.
This will continue until things collapse, at which point women will once again have no choice but to find a man able to support and protect her, and give him a reason to want to do so.
China is following Japan’s footsteps in this regard. I did see your /s...

They’re more interested in sex with Manga or Anime cartoon girls wearing sailor outfits. Or robots. Seriously, that country is effed up sexually. A friend of mine went to Japan and they actually have used panties in vending booths.
How could anyone ever doubt Perry Mason?
It is not really not as over-populated as it seems. It has a land mass with few large plains and an abundance of mountainous land not ideal for habitation and often-enough not good for growing food either. It makes it seem “over populated” because the Japanese land mass tends to concentrate people in cities on a scale much greater than many countries. Japan ranks 38th in population density (population vs land mass) while South Korea ranks 23rd.
I wonder if there is any study of birth rates that has compared birth rates by the population density of the area persons live in. On that scale, crowded into big cities, most Japanese live in areas of large population density. Is “crowding” a factor that reduces birth rate? If so then why is the birth rate as low as it is in Germany - 1.5 vs Japan at 1.46.
Godzilla started it, but Rodan finished it
