Mass Exodus From States Run By Top Democratic Governors Continues
forbes ^ | Dec 23, 2017 | Patrick Gleason

The Democratic Governors Association, in an attempt to attack Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner (R) tweeted this week about how 33,000 people left Illinois for another state over the past year, continuing years of outmigration from the Land of Lincoln.

What they won’t be touting is the fact that during the administration of Gov. Pat Quinn (D), Rauner’s predecessor, 247,410 people on net left Illinois for the likes of North Carolina, Texas, Florida, Arizona, and other states that are better stewards of taxpayers dollars. Those 247,410 people, according to IRS migration data, took $13.7 billion with them to states that that are better run and have lower taxes.

The DGA really doesn’t want to dive into interstate migration data, as it does not reflect well on their most prominent governors. Let’s start by looking at what has happened in California since Jerry Brown became governor again in January of 2011.

Since Gov. Brown was sworn in, becoming the oldest governor in state history, 243,099 people have fled California on net for other states, taking $7.794 billion with them to states that don’t have such high taxes and onerous regulations that make housing unaffordable for middle class households.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D), a 2020 presidential contender, is another prominent Democrat who is chasing families and employers out his state with crushing taxes and onerous regulations.

Since Gov. Cuomo was sworn in, 577,286 people on net have fled New York for other states, taking more than $27 billion with them.

And then there is the Chairman of the DGA, Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy. Since Malloy took office in 2011, 73,676 people on net have left his state. That's a lot of former Nutmeggers and they took $8.543 billion with them to states with more hospitable tax climates.

Full article goes into a lot of the reasons why people are walking, but I'm sure most here already know why....

Unfortunately this is nothing to crow about. Like a virus that kills the host liberalism moves to a new host and begins to kill it.

Why would I stay in a state where my taxes are high, services suck, traffic is the worst and its citizens get blamed for it. Then every 2-4 years they come to you with promises that never materialize.

I got out of Jersey in 2006 and even then, a year later I got a tax bill from Jersey about leaving the state. Long story short, I closed a business 2 years prior and I had to pay a tax to take my business out of state. My attorney laughed and said I was being threatened and it would be easier to pay than to fight. I fought and they left me alone.

What no one understands, and what I've been saying for years here on FR, is that being a moderate Republican gets you nowhere.

Look, Arnold Schwarzenegger was the epitome of a moderate, centrist Republican in a dark blue state. He had the star power, he supported global warming and open borders, and look where the Republican Party is in CA? They are nowhere to be found. CA is totally run by the Democrats.

This has happened to Rauner. He supported Madigan's big government agenda and caved on abortion. He was elected as a reformer; instead he'll get blamed for the problems and IL will move further to the Left.

Illinoisans: Please don't move to WI, OK? We love our Governor, our majority GOP legislature, and conservative state Supremes.

Only 73,000+ people moved out of Connecticut? I just hope Connecticut had enough of the tax and spenders - of both parties (John Rowland and Jodi Rell were not exactly conservative with the taxpayers money, and they were the jerks with R behind the name).

I am one step away from leaving NJ with this A-hole new libtard governor and the tyranny of Trenton/North Jersey and stupid local lords plus the fact that the taxes make my property unsellable ( for a decent profit) and a pathetic investment in the first place. Liberals can FOAD.

For some odd reason many escapees to the south from the northeast states follow a bad pattern.

Once relocated they say how happy they are to be away from their high tax Nanny States.

Then they set about trying to recreate the same suffocating liberal government and bureaucracies they left behind.

The new tax plan is super genius in that the $10,000 state and local tax cap on itemizations will hit Blue States like MA, NY and NJ. If that either fuels a tax revolt in those states (doubtful) or an exodus of long-suffering Deplorables that vote, to states like PA or NH (likely), 2020 will look better and better for Trump.

I am in eastern Washington. I’ll retire in Idaho or the interior of Alaska. Until Trump was elected I was considering emigration. Still might happen.

Dunno if the article includes it, but today the Hawaii news had an article: "People are leaving Hawaii in droves – and this year was no exception".

The numbers are not what I would call droves, but it is a start.

One must remember that a moderate is simply a liberal that is lying.

Yes and it’s worrisome here in TX. They are moving to our conservative suburbs and bringing their liberal agendas with them.
