Why would Russia attack Norway? Would they march across Finland and Sweden. The north route across Norway isn’t an option. Russia’s Army is a shadow of what it was. This sounds nuts.

Yeah, the last time the Russkies took on Finland they pretty much got their clocks cleaned. It was only through over whelming numbers that they won.

The Soviet Army took a number of towns in Northern Norway from the Nazis during World War II. I am sure they are still capable of launching military operations in that area as they still maintain credible forces in the vicinity. They would attack Norway because it is part of NATO and to protect the ballistic submarine fleet stationed at Murmansk.

I was in Norway in 1979 and asked one relative about how they felt about sharing a border with the USSR and if they felt threatened. “Russia!? They’ve never bothered us, that is silly. It is the Germans we are concerned about.” (Said in all seriousness!)
