When you’re in a split second decision, you don’t get to query everything within a hundred yards to the rear of your target.
A kid was killed. It’s tragic. Stop making decisions on guilt based on your feelings and use your brain.
.........It’s practice in Texas, if not the law, for the Texas Rangers to investigate cop shootings. They will investigate this one and make a determination of whether or not this was in fact a “split second” decision.
If it was not, this officer is going to jail. I seem to remember the cop that shot that young man running away from him recently got 20 years.
This shooting doesn’t look to good. Schertz-Cibolo is about 40 miles south of me so I will be watching this one closely. It’s premature for anyone to be drawing conclusions tonight.

Then you don’t pull the damned trigger. It’s as simple as that. Cops get paid to take bullets if necessary. If that is too much for them they can go sell insurance.
