Trump Resort in Ireland Will Build Seawalls to Protect Against Climate Change

President Donald Trump’s golf resort will build two seawalls to protect three holes on the golf course from rising sea levels and water erosion.

President Donald Trump will finally get the wall he's after. However, it won't be along the U.S.-Mexico border. An Irish council on Thursday granted approval for a wall to be built around part of Trump's golf course in Doonbeg, Ireland to protect it from water erosion.

Trump International Golf Links & Hotel Ireland previously applied to the Clare County Council for a continuous 1.7-mile long wall, but withdrew the application last year. Now, the resort will build a line of two low, concealed seawalls on the landward side of a public beach to prevent storm waters from eroding three holes of the course. One wall will be 2,000 feet long and the other 840 feet long.

In the first application, Trump cited "global warming and its effects," including rising sea levels and water erosion, as reasons for the wall, Politico reported, despite his statements calling global warming and climate change "a total hoax." Global warming was not listed as a reason in this application.

Oooh aren’t you clever with your bitchy little pun, Alexa!

Who says climate change is responsible? It’s a frigging island in northern latitudes. Wind. Rain.

Alexa, do you think the white cliffs of dover started out as white cliffs?

Climate changes. It has since the Earth was formed and it will as long as the Earth exists.

It is the huge nuclear ball in the sky to blame not cars or cow farts.

Coastlines have been changing for billions of years. Naturally, any more changes from this point forward can be traced back to coal and tailpipes. /

I hope Sarah kicks their asses. It says it’s to prevent erosion. If oceans rise that the world will have stuff to worry about and it won’t be global warming. Or it should be global warning.

Since just about every lefty in the area is opposed to building the wall he probably thought he should speak in terms them understand. They still didn’t care.

The climate is always changing and sea levels have been rising for over ten thousand years. Ireland's original inhabitants arrive overland, the English Channel and Irish Sea being valleys at the end of the last Ice Age. The barrier is probably intended to protect the course from the North Atlantic storms that regularly lash the Irish coast.

Like any sensible person, he uses technology to adapt to weather cycles and save his property.

Yea, I’ve been to Doonbeg and there are some holes close to the water where tidal surges could flood parts of the course. But that’s because when Greg Norman owned it and had it developed, he did t install logical protections in the first place.

So he does believe in climate change?

Climate change is real. It's been around since earth's beginning. Anthropogenic climate change is the hoax. What Donald Trump is doing is mitigating the effects of climate change in a positive manner. Carbon taxes and redistribution of the wealth are not realistic solutions for combating climate change. In this case, building a wall is.

Wow! Given that the climate has been changing since day 1 of earth’s existence and will continue to do so until the end of time...how will a few walls stop it?! Must be magic beans or something.

The original application was reduced from a 1.7 mile to a 2840 foot long wall. Global warming has become less of a problem than originally thought (wink, wink).

Nice image BTW - I’m liberating it.

Cheers, Otter
