Fifth-Third CEO: Bank Workers Will Get Minimum Wage Boost Due To New Tax Reform
CBS Detroit ^ | Dec. 20, 2017 | staff

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) – Some local workers will be seeing a pay raise because of the newly approved tax reform legislation.

Fifth-Third Bank says it will raise its minimum wage for all employees to $15 an hour and a one-time bonus of $1000 to more than 13,000 workers.

Fifth Third has about 2,600 workers in Michigan.

The CEO says the tax cut allowed the bank the opportunity to re-evaluate its compensation structure and share some of those benefits with its workforce.

At least two other major companies are building goodwill in the wake of President Donald Trump’s tax cuts by finding ways to pass along some of their likely savings to employees.

Major government contractor Boeing will provide an additional $300 million for job-training, facility upgrades and charitable giving.

AT&T says it will pay a $1,000 bonus to 200,000 workers once the tax bill passed Wednesday is signed into law. The Justice Department is currently suing to block a proposed $85 billion merger between AT&T and Time Warner, a deal Trump has objected to as “not good for the country.”

The liberals should be happy with this result. But they will somehow criticize this move, perhaps by saying the company only did this because of Trump’s tax law, or to curry favor with Trump , or something, anything, which will be critical of Trump and Republicans.

Yet there are millions of opponents who say that a corporate tax cut will be kept by the “greedy executives”.

I don’t think Chuck or Nancy could look any dumber.

Trouble is, it doesn’t bother them in the least.

Ben Shapiro is in for Levin tonight. American corporations plan on investing billions in the USA.

Just for the heck of it I googled "tax cuts corporation response" ALL the Lame Stream Media have articles that discuss how these tax cuts won't help the middle class and they won't raise salaries or investments here. Within 5 hours they are proven wrong!!! LOL!!

MAGA!!

p.s. Shapiro is doing a great job tonight.

AT&T
AT&T said it would give $1,000 bonuses to more than 200,000 employees in the U.S. once the tax bill is signed into law and promised to invest an additional $1 billion in the U.S. in 2018. CEO Randall Stephenson praised the tax legislation as “a monumental step to bring taxes paid by U.S. businesses in line with the rest of the industrialized world.”

Trump praised AT&T’s announcement in remarks at the White House. “That’s because of what we did,” he said. “So that’s pretty good. That’s pretty good.” AT&T is currently awaiting approval from Trump’s Justice Department of its pending $85 billion acquisition of Time Warner.

Boeing
Boeing announced that it would spend $300 million on “employee-related and charitable investments” because of the tax plan. “The reforms enable us to better compete on the world stage and give us a stronger foundation for the investment in innovation, facilities and skills that will support our long-term growth,” CEO Dennis Muilenburg said in a statement.

Comcast
Comcast is giving $1,000 bonuses to 100,000 “frontline and non-executive employees,” the company announced, citing the rollback of the FCC’s Obama-era net neutrality rules and the passage of the tax reform bill. CEO Brian Roberts also said the company expects to spend “well in excess of” $50 billion on infrastructure investment over the next five years.

Fifth Third Bankcorp
Fifth Third Bancorp said it would increase its hourly minimum wage to $15 for U.S. employees.

Wells Fargo
Wells Fargo said it would increase its minimum wage for U.S. employees from $13.50 to $15 and spend $400 million on donations to nonprofits and community organizations in 2018.

Funny - all the marching and demonstrations and self-righteous accusatory preaching we’ve endured from the left and all it really takes to get a raise in the minimum wage is to help companies see their way to have more income to distribute to their workers......

I believe we’re up over $300 million in bonuses promised today after the Tax Cut bill was passed.

Nice!

Beats a pussy’s speech from the Kenyan about lowered expectations and words like “new realty”, “bush’s fault” and other loser phrases.

I’m actually surprised he didn’t put on a sweater at one point, and offer up his own malaise speech.
