So what does Cascades mean? Is that only this branch? Or does it mean various branches on the WA routes, or special deluxe service?

probably a reference to the Cascade mountain range which lies east of where the derailment occurred.

"Cascades" is a branding of Amtrak's Vancouver (BC)-Seattle-Portland-Eugene corridor. There are six daily roundtrips between Seattle and Portland (two added today), and two roundtrips each between Seattle and Vancouver (BC) and between Portland and Eugene. The latter originate/terminate at Seattle.

Amtrak Cascades trains moved to a rehabilitated, formerly freight-only inland route between Tacoma and Olympia today. Track was upgraded to handle passenger trains operating at 79mph.
