Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Oh.) said late Saturday that he received an assurance from House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) that subpoenas would be issued for various senior FBI and Justice Department officials amid increased GOP allegations of anti-Trump bias in the bureau.
"Chairman Goodlatte has told us he is going to subpoena those individuals," Jordan told Fox News's Jeanine Pirro on "Justice with Judge Jeanine."
Jordan was referring to deputy FBI director Andrew McCabe, senior counterintelligence agent Peter Strzok, FBI attorney Lisa Page, former associate deputy attorney general Bruce Ohr and his wife Nellie, who reportedly worked for Fusion GPS, which collected opposition research on Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign.
"There are two fundamental questions: Did the FBI pay Christopher Steele, the author of the dossier, and was the dossier the basis of getting warrants to spy on people associated with President Trump's campaign?" Jordan continued.
The Hill has reached out to Goodlatte's office for comment.
Jordan's comments come as Republican claims of anti-Trump bias within the FBI escalate.
Republicans have pounced on text messages between Strzok and Page that showed the two criticizing the real estate magnate during the campaign.
Strzok, who was dismissed from Mueller's team earlier this year, had said Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) was "an idiot like Trump," while Page called Trump "a loathsome human."
"God, Hillary should win 100,000,000-0," Strzok said in another message to Page.
Million dollar question is WHEN?
yes.....when.......although this time, it seems a bit different...Jordan and Nunes seem loaded for bear...and they will have to take advantage of the momentum that they currently have....otherwise, the roaches will re-group and the air will come out of their tires
It was actually a question?
He had to get assurance from Goodlatte?
You have to be kidding me!
I hope you’re right. We have waited 8 years for just one of these dozens of criminals to be arrested....hasn’t happened yet.
Methinks theyll have some unexpected questions for them...while under oath hehehe...and Goodlatte et al already know the answers.....
why has there been no special prosecutor appointed?
Yea, big deal, they will all plead the 5th.
Active high Justice Department officials pleading the 5th would be one of the biggest deals in history.
Eric Holder was subpoenaed.
The GOP had assurances McCabe would show up last week too.
How about frog marched in shackles....
See my tagline.
And if they do issue subpoenas they will just be ignored.
A subpoena means nothing. Ask Eric Holder.
Nothing but a formality.
Not sure how much stock I put in Goodlatte’s assurances.
Interesting that this piece makes no reference to the more alarming message that talks about the “insurance policy”. Those who have not been paying attention will think that the big stink is over people calling the president rude names in private messages. But perhaps the author’s intent is to make it look like that Congressional Republicans are making a mountain out of a mole hill.
Dreamer, you silly little dreamers. Very unlikely anything will be done about prosecuting clear lawbreaking and treason in DC. It is occupied territory.
that Congressional= the Congressional
