Seems to me the he is punishing his local businesses as well. I would think that the Christmas pilgrims would be spending a lot of money locally when they come for Christmas.
I also would imagine that the Christmas festivities would be the Make or Break sales period for the area much like Black Friday is for American businesses.
If they have anything like a businessmens association they should be flooding his office with complaints.
True but when I visited Israel I did not succumb to buying trinkets particularly of a religious nature. What I took away were memories and a better understanding of the lay of the land when I read the Bible. I also remember visiting Bethlehem and seeing the place decorated with plastic pennants strung across the roads with the image of Yasser Arafat. This was in 1996. I found that a particular turnoff to engage in local commerce.
