some are saying it’s just for accusations, not even only for convictions (or pending court cases)- I really hope that’s not the case- and yes- it should be VERY hard for someone to lose a constitutional right- an inalienable right- a God given right such as the right to self protection
You get convicted of domestic abuse in most states you lose the job and your right to own firearms, convicted being the key here.
Yeah, well when you figure that as HUD Secretary for Bildo Klintoon, il Sfachime II Andrew Cuomo was as responsible for the subprime disaster and subsequent so-called Great Recession as anyone in the country with his lending requirements to anyone and everyone with a pulse especially minorities or else banks and other lending institutions faced serious consequences, and yet no one has held him accountable in any large measure to this day, I'd say no small wonder that law is completely foreign to him.
The law of ignored obvious consequences is lost on this man.
NY’s SAFE law (register or surrender assault weapons, no more transfers) has a paltry 4% compliance rate.
Making felons out of well-armed otherwise-law-abiding citizens is a bad idea.
Especially if using the Duluth Model of defining abuse.
it may have a small compliance rate (The NY safe act)- however, the danger is now that when someone is arrested who didn’t turn in ‘assault weapons’ who was required to by the NY safe act- then they can be further charged with breaking the law- a felony i believe- they get charged for some minor offense, police find a banned weapon- then that minor offender is now a convicted felon
That is as it should be. However, there probably are a lot fewer convictions than there should be based on what I have seen. There are many reasons, which I will not go into, that cops are not charged with domestic abuse when they should be.
“You spoke harshly to your wife in 1993. Turn in your firearms.”
Aren’t proven domestic abusers already prohibited from owning firearms?
“Lautencadevar from NJ pushed this, through many moons ago.”
He was a stinker then....imagine now!
convicted you mean? Yes I believe in many states they are- the supreme court found that states could take the right to own guns from convicted domestic abusers- not sure bout non convicted ones (those who were accused but found not guilty)
Cuomo removed guns from just about anyone anyway.
Except for fudd guns and single-shot. Screw him.
as long as they start by raiding all the Mosques and body cavity search every muzzie in the state. They are self admitted women beaters right in their little handbook they call a bible.
How about a law to arm the abused?
Love to see him back that up.
2A.
So they will use knives, bats and home depot trucks
You posted to the wrong person. In this and any gun grab, it must be based on convictions, not accusations. Evidence, not he said.. she said. 2A is clear, we have but one last protection, the one that established this great nation under God.
If the government has a tank, so should we. If the government has full auto, so should we. If it is weaponzed drones, so should we. Fully armed aircraft, the whole 9 yards.
And we must demilitarize police departments. Must.
Clearly, the justice system is broken, just like the minority community has been saying all along.
