You mention nuclear bombs to Americans and they get edgy. Granted, nuclear war ain’t good but the dirty little secret is that it is survivable. The Ruskys know it, the Chicoms know it and I pray that our military still has plans to win it.

Seems like rational foreign and domestic policy on Russia’s part... Some people don’t get it.

100 megatons is twice the yield of the biggest bomb ever detonated, the Tsar Bomba. (Also a Russian weapon).

We gave up the Pershing II, all of the battlefield weapons, and cut our strategic forces by about 90 percent. Obama and his minions are morons, but to be fair the stupid started back under the Bushes.

We don’t have the infrastructure to build these weapons now. I think even our tritium program has been dismantled.

Just like Churchill said, “Russian National Interest.”

There are a number of stories coming out about the Ruskies doing things like this. It’s my take we are doing the same things.

Does Russia only have designs on us, or is their most recent activity due to a monster developing on their border?

No society survives a nuclear war. All building on the surface will be gone. Infrastructure destroyed is not replaceable immediately. It would take decades and incredible sums of money to get back to where each nation started from.

This talk is sheer lunacy IMO.

No nation plans on winning a nuclear war. It’s not going to happen.

I lose. You lose. Everybody loses.

If the Norks start wildly firing off nukes, I imagine the Russkies figure it might also come in handy just in case everybody starts lobbing ‘em.

“It would take decades and incredible sums of money to get back to where each nation started from.”

And since money would be meaningless, everybody’s SOL.

Exactly. It take a steady cash flow to pay for infrastructure.

With the major economies destroyed, where does a steady cash flow come from? Where do materials come from? More pointedly, where do materials that are not glowing come from?

I certainly don’t wish a nuclear strike on Russians. I don’t wish one on China or Europe.

Two or three nuclear bombs going off at altitude, would take down Russia’s electronic infrastructure.

I think we’ve survived this long to know these things.

There’s no way I would see Trump wanting nuclear war. I’m very doubtful the Russians or China really want one.

China is just now emerging, and I can’t see them wanting to go back 50 years in 90 minutes.

Yeah, at least the uranium that wasn't forwarded on to Iran.

The 100 megaton submarine design is really more of a large, remote control torpedo containing a very dirty nuke. The idea is to hit a beach with it, produce a large amount of fallout because of the sand and crater, and thereby deny our access to the area.

Not likely to be very effective, really, and wouldn’t work well on our east coast because of wind direction.

And yes, our government can produce nukes—the best in the world. But no, our government isn’t going to fill the world in on information about it.

And we have no choice but to find ways to defend our country. So we’ll build more defenses, too, regardless of the screams for building perfect defensive devices that would stop every, single, incoming weapon or building nothing at all.

We would lose much more, if we didn’t nothing at all beyond diplomacy. Too bad about not preserving infinitely perpetually stable markets for investors: the greater impossibility. Markets go up and down, just as civilizations do. The human race will continue.

Are they building these without testing? If they are testing, how come we don’t hear about it? Or, is testing allowed under some yield threshold?

In any event, these sound like devastating weapons to augment any conventional warfare (not to mention the mega-drone sub).

We have been so... asleep.

Those thoughts certainly come to mind. It’s reality.

We’ve had the ability to screw each other over for what nearly 60 years?

This doesn’t much bother me. If it happens, I won’t know it anyway. I’d probably be dead in the first five minutes of the war.

Trump doesn’t want a nuclear war, he wants nuclear superiority so that other countries won’t attack us. IIRC, that used to be a policy of ours many years ago.

But Obama, with his “more flexibility” promise to Medvdev, reduced our capabilities.

Now it’s a race against time. Will America under Trump be able to arm up again before the Russians can?

I think so...

I have no problem with those comments.

They sum up pretty much what I believe to be true.

We will have deterrent strength and numbers of weapons.

Anyone trying to test that, will not be happy with the outcome.

This reminds me of David Wilkerson’s prophecies. He said Russia would nuke the US, and we wouldn’t get a shot off in return. Europe would immediately surrender.

There is nobody to hold Russia to account.

Russia can be sure that liberals and the MSM will hold the U.S. to account for Treaty Compliance.
