He will plead the 5th. Then the govt. may grant him immunity, meaning nothing he discloses can be used against him criminally. If he’s granted immunity, he must answer all questions truthfully or be prosecuted for perjury.

The govt. may not grant him immunity meaning they can still go after him with criminal charges.

Frankly, I would love for McCabe to plead the Fifth; just like Michael Corleone in Godfather II, only McCabe is supposed to be on the side of the Law. The optics of an FBI deputy director pleading against testimony that “may tend to incriminate him” are fantastic. Of course, I would imagine that AG Sessions will pay it no attention or conclude that it will take a four year investigation while McCabe keeps his job.
