Tim flagged this in his Saturday post about the annual Army-Navy football game, but I thought it merited its own post, just for maximum exposure. The game itself resulted in Army's second consecutive dramatic victory, after 14 straight years of Navy triumphs. Regardless, the performance of the Star Spangled Banner prior to the game, featuring the glee club from each military branch, was really beautiful -- especially amid the lightly falling December snow. A stirring, patriotic tribute. "Goosebumps" is right:
2017 National Anthem at the Army-Navy Game (Video)
And here's how the game ended, with apologies to the Midshipmen:

I'll give Fox News anchor Bret Baier the last word on yesterday's anthem in Philadelphia:
Probably not a lot of kneeling there. https://t.co/QkOPnrfyG6— Bret Baier (@BretBaier) December 9, 2017
Definitely not.
Fine top-tenors. Lovely diction. And those gorgeous heavy wool coats!
Beautiful. Sorry we missed that.

I did too. I don’t even know network carried the game.
We will make an effort to watch next year.

I enjoyed the pregame clip too, talking about the dedication and honor at these schools.
Very very good, and I give CBS kudos for putting it on the air.
The contrast with what is going in the NFL couldn’t have been more pronounced.
The stands were full.
I appreciated the lack of “embellishments” and absence of added notes.
Boy, would I love to attend this game, one day.
Forget ALL of the other fooseball....this is the only game I truly want to see.
This is what I was referencing in my post above.
Move down just a little to the pregame video presentation.
If you haven’t seen it, you must.
I am still looking for a better version. This is good enough for now.

Move down a little and click on the video. Try expanding it to full screen to see if you can tolerate it on our screen that size.
I was thinking yesterday I should put that on my bucket list.
on a serious note, the number of females I see in the academies makes me wonder how many qualified men are kicked to the curb, in the brutal business of leading troops into warfare with savage brutes that have no visions of diversity dancing in their heads...?
Thanks for posting! Good to see that again, in archives - spectacular contest, also! Congrats to Army! (grrr)

My toes are still cold from being there for every minute of this classic. Spend some time around these cadets and midshipmen and youll feel better about the future of the country. These kids are inspiring, Americas best, and they know what they are signing up for.
The Los Angeles Times today in their sports section contained not a word about this game other than to bury the score in its tiny section for “College Football”.
I believe it was omitted intentionally.
They were too busy giving space to an idiot controlling father who,is destroying his kids lives and pulling them off the uCLA basketball team.
Given the current state of the military academies, I’m a bit surprised that none of the cadets took a knee.
Zerø isnt the commander in chief anymore.
Indeed!
nice thx i was clearing off my truck to get to my gf house.
