Pakistan Air Force (PAF) chief Sohail Aman said here on Thursday that he has ordered his force to shoot down any drones, including those of the US, if they violate the country's airspace.
The announcement was made public about two weeks after a US drone strike targeted a militant compound in Pakistan's tribal region near the Afghan border, killing three militants.

What a mess. Perhaps Trump should tie US aid to Pakistan to leaving our drones alone.
They never complained when President Obama did the exact same thing for eight years.
But I guess the checks are not clearing anymore.
First they have to find them.
While a drone would be a piece of cake to shoot down in a visual engagement, getting in close for a visual ID might not be that easy. The radar return on those things is likely pretty small.
More drone practice flights over Pakistan. 48 hour pass to whoever can get them to “launch” on us.
Good luck. Those drones are either (a) cheap surveillance drones or (b) attack drones flying low at hundreds of miles and hour.
In either case, shut down support (for the known country that supports terrorists) for them, until they can provide equal support back.
> Pakistan can’t have it both ways - either they are our enemies, or they are too incompetent to control their own nation. <
Well said.
The world needs new parking lots in the ME.
Islam and the Democrats are allied against Trump.
by time they see one and report it and it goes up the chain to get an aircraft launched, it will be out of their airspace by time it gets there

Gotta find ‘em first.

I am not sure we need to take this “threat” seriously. It’s probably just window dressing, eye wash, to appease Pocketstan’s (as 0bama would say) sense of pride. Let’s wait and see what how many they actually bag.
I mean for cripes sake, we flew two helicopters deep into their country, engaged in a fire-fight and departed without any interference from the vaunted Pocketstan (sic) Air Force.
One wonders who this announcement was really made for, the U. S. or the the people living in highly active Taliban areas.
We’ll see how many attempts are made to shot them down.
They’re findable, just not identifiable. They don’t carry transponders so what the sorties are seeing is a radar blip or a visual at mach 2.
Identity is not meant to be who they are or who sent them. The article said any drones. That means they are mixing aircraft they can’t determine intent of. The use
of drones is extremely varied. Some examples are: precision agriculture, infrastructure inspection, wind energy monitoring, pipeline and power inspection, highway monitoring, natural resources monitoring, environmental compliance, atmospheric research, media and entertainment, sport photos, filming, wildlife protection and research, hunting and anti-hunting monitoring, and including disaster relief.
Experiments to carry small cargo are on-going in Germany and France. Size, configuration and complexity of drones are also extremely varied. They are developed by not only classical aviation companies and but also by non-aviation companies, usually Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SME).
So without determining a danger with the use of the drone, they are violating the airspace with their rules applying.

I would agree.
Sounds good. They SHOULD defend their airspace. Our guys NEED to practice in hostile air space in real time against real defensive fire.
