It’s hard to know how normal incidents of this type have been. Perhaps we are now sensitized and notice what was there...mistakes...all along. But the overwhelming impression now is that the news in general, and CNN in particular, is just melting down. Nothing appears to get fact checked. There appears to be no editing as to what should and should not hit the air.
My impression is that they are so Trump-shocked that they simply can’t function.
If I was running CNN I’d set up a process where anything that went on the air had to pass some sort of review. While I don’t think it’s possible to get back the lost credibility in the short term, it would be a good idea to hold onto any perceived journalistic credibility that might remain.
