WNYC hosts Leonard Lopate, Jonathan Schwartz put on leave amid investigation

Two of the best known hosts on WNYC, Leonard Lopate and Jonathan Schwartz, have been placed on what the station called an "indefinite leave."

"Effective immediately, Leonard Lopate and Jonathan Schwartz are no longer on the air," news anchor Shumita Basu said on the station's noon newscast.

The station's parent organization, New York Public Radio, said the two men have been sidelined "pending an investigation into accusations of inappropriate conduct." The station would not comment on the nature of the accusations.

I’m not sure who this article was talking about it was so poorly organized. Was it guys versus guys, guys versus gals, transsexuals versus the world, drunks versus sobers, etc.?

Jonathan Schwartz is an icon among Friends of Dorothy, Liza Minnelli crowd. He is smart, urbane, a bottomless bin of anecdotes about Sinatra and the Great American Songbook. He has to be 80 or close to it. I know him best from his XM satellite show which used to play Sunday afternoons.

Jonathan Schwartz simply does not seem like someone who would be attacking anyone.
He seems like a happy, funny, and generally upbeat person from what I heard on Sirius XM.
One could be led to believe that it is some sort of orchestrated prank.
