Democratic leaders Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi are headed to the White House Thursday for a bipartisan meeting with Republican leaders and President Trump. They accepted Trump's second invitation to meet after declining the first on Nov. 28.
The backdrop: Schumer and Pelosi skipped the first meeting after Trump tweeted that he didn't "see a deal" with them and called them "weak on crime" and "weak on illegal immigration." Monday, they said, "We hope the President will go into this meeting with an open mind, rather than deciding that an agreement can't be reached beforehand."

The full statement:
"We're glad the White House has reached out and asked for a second meeting. We hope the President will go into this meeting with an open mind, rather than deciding that an agreement can't be reached beforehand.
"We need to reach a budget agreement that equally boosts funds for our military and key priorities here at home including the opioid crisis, pension plans and rural infrastructure. We have to provide funding for community health centers and CHIP, as well as relief for the millions of Americans still reeling from natural disasters. And we must also come together on a bipartisan deal to pass the DREAM Act along with tough border security measures. There is a bipartisan path forward on all of these items.
"As negotiations with our Republican counterparts continue, we are hopeful the President will be open to an agreement to address the urgent needs of the American people and keep government open."
Dem’s are sensitive little beggar’s ain’t they?
When there are political points to be made then thin skin runs on both sides of the aisle.
Wow—hard to believe that Chuck and Nancy wrote the part about DACA with tough border security. Wonder what their pollsters are telling them.
Making America Great Again without you.
Come on President Trump, say NO to DACA and ANY form of Amnesty or Special Status!
They're just trying to refute Trump's claim on being soft on border security. Doesn't mean they actually mean it.
Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi are the ones who had repeatedly signaled that they had no intention of conceding anything before meeting with Trump, that they were approaching without any concessions they were willing to make to resolve the standing dispute.
Democrats, almost always, would much rather have the issue, than to ever make any kind of resolution.
Bow down? LOL! The Republicans have a 46 seat majority in the House and a 2 seat majority in the Senate. If Ryan and McConnell could control their members then they wouldn't need to come crawling to Schumer and Pelosi for votes enough to pass the continuing funding measures.
If he would tweet that ahead of time then there wouldn't be any need for the meeting.
Their first refusal did not go over to good!!!
Pelosifer and Schmucky want to attach DACA to the interim spending bill, or else they will shut the government down!
I hope they do that, because they will be walking into a “YUGE” Trump trap.
Sometimes I cannot believe that the Congressional leaders of the liberal fascist Dem party are actually dumber than dirt.
Alinsky tactics are not going to win against our president.
Time for the Donald to piss em all off again so they refuse the meeting.
He's got till Thursday.
Most of the deals would be made and the bargains cemented over drinks. When the players went back to the House and Senate, the votes were there because Sam, Charlie, Everett and Lyndon had the votes and party discipline still existed.
We may be headed for something similar.
We don’t need Schumer or Pelosi. We will be fine. I love to see them whine, bitch and cry though.
They won't shut the government down. The Republicans have majorities in both houses of Congress. If Ryan and McConnell could keep their people in line they could pass the budget resolutions without a single Democrat. If this all blows up again and the government shuts down then the GOP owns it.
Not hardly. The Democrats would rather see the country go down the tubes than work with Republicans, and the Republicans feel the same way about working with Democrats. There is no middle to be found over drinks, or anything else.
If they didn't need Pelosi and Schumer then the wouldn't be having the meeting.
>>...doesn’t mean they actually mean it
Of course they don’t. But usually they are proud of not even pretending, because pandering to the underclass and the invaders is a cornerstone strategy of their path to power. Divide and conquer.
