Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being the One, True God Who gave us His only begotten Son to die for all mankind. The world wants us to forget about the Christ in Christmas and the Source of our joy. It wants us to remove the nativity scenes, the beautiful carols, and the true meaning of the season. And it wants us to become entangled in all the busyness that keeps us from focusing on the true reason for the celebration. But we are not of this world. We are of You, Lord God---born of the Spirit and washed by Your blood. Help us to be strong against the pressures to forget You. Help us to not conform, but to renew our minds in You and in Your Word. Give us the strength and the desire to overcome evil with good, to return Your love and compassion as we interact with others. Let us not bow to political correctness nor be ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Father, You are the God Who avenges us. We pray that You would avenge our President as he continues to battle all the forces against him and against the restoration of morality and decency in this nation. Help him to be strong in You and in the power of Your might. Thank You for giving him the spirit of wisdom, understanding, courage, and faith. We bless You, Lord, for Your faithfulness to him. We continue to pray that You give Your angels charge over him and his family to keep them in all their ways. Thank You for Your faithfulness in helping him to prevail during these turbulent times.

Grant peace to our military men and women. Many will be apart from their families over Christmas, Father, and they need a special reminder of Your love for them. Send people to share the love of Christ with them and their families no matter where they are. Help us to express our gratitude to them as individuals and as a nation.

Father, we pray for the peace of Jerusalem and set ourselves as watchmen on the walls. Hasten the day of our Savior’s return, that the true and lasting peace You have for us may begin this day. O come, O come, Emmanuel. In the Name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.
