Investigators have recovered a body in a creek believed to be 3-year-old Mariah Woods, officials said Saturday.
District Attorney Ernie Lee told reporters that divers recovered the body in neighboring Pender County, about 25 miles from Mariah's home in Jacksonville. He added that they were awaiting a medical examiner's report to determine the official cause of death.
The body was found hours after Earl Kimrey, the live-in boyfriend of Mariah's mother, was arrested and held on $1 million bond. He is charged with concealing of death, obstruction of justice, second-degree burglary, felony larceny and possession of stolen property. Prosecutors are reviewing whether additional charges should be filed.

I have to correct my comment. After I posted I was talking to my husband and mentioned how the mother referred to her daughter in the past tense, my husband said I don’t think she said that. So I looked and could not find the interview I was referring to and I might be wrong, however she definitely did the dry eyed cry and whining act.

One question remains as to who or whom committed this atrocity?
When we first heard about and saw Mariah on the news, both my wife and I had a great desire to adopt her although we are way too old to have children. This beautiful little girl would have had an awesome life with us and would have ended up spoiled rotten. But I know she is in a place where she is loved even more.
They just found the body. Once an autopsy determines cause of death I’m sure murder charges will be coming, and hopefully the “mom” will have some charges thrown at her too. So sick of women allowing men to do this to their child and pretending they were “too scared” to do anything because he was abusive.

Mothers don’t think of themselves they’d throw themselves in front of a train to protect their kid.

I have a very hard time believing that Mom had nothing to do with her little girl’s disappearance.

I saw that, too....if only someone had rescued her...where were the grandparents? aunts? uncles? neighbors?
I can’t help but feel that way too.
EVERYONE who knew this child let her down.
