AIRSTRIKE ON IRANIAN BASE IN SYRIA RAISES QUESTIONS
> Israels Red Lines on Irans Foothold in Syria
> Reports: Israeli aircraft struck an Iranian base outside Damascus

Why did it take so long to target the facility and in whose interest was it to reveal the facility to the public?
In the early hours of December 2 reports claimed that a base or ammunition warehouse south of Damascus had been hit by missiles from an airstrike. Foreign media has alleged that Israel was behind that strike.
However, unlike previous airstrikes on Syria, some of which Israel has taken credit for, this one was conducted against a site that was well known. It raises questions as to the timing of the attack and what it was meant to achieve. Why did it take so long to target the facility and in whose interest was it to reveal the facility to the public? First, lets look at the timeline of events in November that led to the attack.
For more than a year there have been warnings that Iran was intent on constructing permanent bases in Syria, laying the groundwork for the era after ISIS was defeated. On November 10 the BBC released a report that Iran was building permanent military base in Syria. The report had three satellite images with it, from January, May and October, showing a site near El-Kiswah south of Damascus. It was about 50km from Israeli forces on the Golan. The changes at the site showed new buildings and the BBC ascribed the information to a western intelligence source.

Not much information.... something may have been struck.... who knows at this point?
I’m sure there was a reason for it. Israel does what it has to do for it’s security.
The reason is well established. Israel has said they will not accept an Iranian base or any sophisticated weapons on or near its borders. Israel did what it said it would do. The only reason you are seeing Israel act now is because of Trump. Obama tied Israel’s hands on behalf of his Muslim brothers and because he put Iran ahead of all else.
For sure!
Ping
This was all denied and ridiculed yesterday as fake news, crazier than debka. Amazing how well news suppression works when done by professionals.
Ping to IAF strikes, even for some ‘aw BSers’
Israel and KSA may be sniffing for rare isotopes now.
I included some ‘yeah righters’ from last night in the ping.
Israel does this often, has to be under wraps because we help and don’t want to have to wake up Congress if something goes sideways.
I think they’d rather avoid this being described as an act of War but rather a Batman strike between mysterious villains so the general populace can move on, nothing to see.

Why? The answer is obvious, an Iranian base 25 miles from Israel and maybe 125 miles from Tel Aviv is a major threat. Iran has sworn to destroy Israel after all
The initial information would have been more believable if it had been better written and not making it sound like thousands of missiles had been launched. It looks like a surgical strike not a missile exchange like presented. It seems that most “news” is better treated as fake to begin with until facts emerge.
There is more to it than President Trump. There is a solid alliance including Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the other GCC nations and I believe Jordan that have changed the situation in the middle east. The Saudi Crown Prince is a major player inthe formation of this alliance
While Israel is probably a silent pardner in the anti Iran coalition , the coalition is not anti Israel.
This was palin for the world to see when the red carpet and all the bells and whistles were rolled out for President Trump in Riyadh.
Hate to admit it but first determination as BS is generally safe and even when the news is verified, do really know anything about what really happened? Just what the filtered layers of handlers want us to know.
Absolutely correct.
This is not the first strike near Damascus.
It’s rarely believable. In fact, sometimes we don’t get wind of them for days; realtime is rare.
Should re-phrase to: knowing IDF is taking out the trash when necessary is a treat reserved for attentive FReepers. I’m lucky to catch the threads.
I agree. I posted an article on this after double checking for proof, the Israel papers pulled their stories. Even DEBKA had nothing on it last evening.
