Somewhere in that question is a violation of the Logan Act.

The questions on the table is does a President Elect have authority to negotiate or diplomacy during the transition period.

Why would Flynn lie? Obama? Was Flynn trying to help the President Elect? Was he trying to undermine Obama’s foreign policy? Or was this all set-up by Obama to discredit an incoming president and how does Kushner play into this story? A useful tool asking Flynn to assist with transitional diplomacy?

Had to look that up. Cobb the lawyer is a distant relative of the famous ballplayer.

Trump Team Knew Flynn Was Under Investigation Before He Came to White House

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/17/us/politics/michael-flynn-donald-trump-national-security-adviser.html

WASHINGTON — Michael T. Flynn told President Trump’s transition team weeks before the inauguration that he was under federal investigation for secretly working as a paid lobbyist for Turkey during the campaign, according to two people familiar with the case.

Despite this warning, which came about a month after the Justice Department notified Mr. Flynn of the inquiry, Mr. Trump made Mr. Flynn his national security adviser. The job gave Mr. Flynn access to the president and nearly every secret held by American intelligence agencies.

Mr. Flynn’s disclosure, on Jan. 4, was first made to the transition team’s chief lawyer, Donald F. McGahn II, who is now the White House counsel. That conversation, and another one two days later between Mr. Flynn’s lawyer and transition lawyers, shows that the Trump team knew about the investigation of Mr. Flynn far earlier than has been previously reported. Excerpt)

You need an update on the real Ty Cobb of baseball fame.

He wasn’t the bastard you’ve been told he was.

So if Mueller is going for Logan Act violations will this wind up in Supreme Court to decide constitutionality of the Act?

Why engage LIBs? To have one as a friend is a major mis-judgement.

Read a post somewhere from someone claiming to be an attorney. They said this is a process crime like with Martha Stewart. They said collusion is not a crime but treason is and that’s why Flynn stated that he did not commit treason which would have been the crime Mueller would go after. Sounds like a lot of talking heads blathering using us for click bait.

They want Kushner. Reports are saying now that he was the one who ordered the contact with Russians. I am sure there is some small discrepancy between Kushner’s and Flynn’s statements that will open the door for Mueller.
It will be interesting to see how the president reacts to Mueller announcing he is going to prosecute his son in law for lying under oath.
Sad that this nation is being ripped apart by a commie loving political party and a complicit media that cannot handle the fact that Trump won the election.

Martha Stewart got the same treatment. She wasn’t guilty of insider trading but was caught lying to the feds. That said, IMHO this is a colossal waste of time and money.

The same attorney referenced in my #53 said no one has ever been prosecuted under the Logan Act. If they try it, that’s probably where it would end up.

Thanks for the info.

Flynn is a puzzle, no doubt. It’s still a mystery to me why Flynn lied to Pence - did he think it wouldn’t come out that he was working with the Turks?

From the NYT article:
“Mr. Flynn misled Mr. Pence about what he had discussed with Mr. Kislyak, telling him that the two had only exchanged holiday pleasantries.”

Seriously?

As I remember Martha Stewart worked very hard to put herself in jail. She was arrogant “better-then-thou” bitchy to the jury, so the jury slam dunked her. She basically did a better job of prosecuting herself then the federal prosecutor did.
