IIRC the back story on Escalante was Clinton literally grabbed it, tied it up so it could not be worked putting many out of jobs in Utah so his Chinese donors could corner the market for their product. I believe the product in question was “clean coal”, but I don’t remember all the details.

Turn “Denali” back into Mount McKinley..!!!
And banish “Presidents’ Day”:
Equating Obama with George Washington is INSULTING and RIDICULOUS.
Bring back Washington/Lincoln’s Birthday.

resident Donald Trump intends to reduce the size of Bears Ears National Monument by nearly 85 percent
He should rename it the "Cubs Ears National Monument"

The assumption is that it will be available for private use in some form for some price.

“Bear Ears became a National Monument on December 28, 2016.”
My grandaughter camped ,with her high school,at Bears’ Ears last January-February
In that short time the Fed’s permitting process had become so cumbersome that the school was afraid they would not be able camp there anymore.

Or even available for more public use. Public use was severly restricted by “Monument” status.
Some restrictions that I recall were on use of motor vehicles, firearms, and to some extent, hunting.
Others are invited to verify the exact restrictions.

It is a very high grade of coal, used in medical treatments and filters. It is found in very few places in the world. Exactly. The amount of that coal in Grand Staircase is one of the largest in the world. One of the only other large deposits is controlled by Riady in Indonesia and the Clintons received millions of dollars from Riady to close our supply off from development. I remember how pissed off the State of New Mexico was when Clinton made his announcement.

I heard that if you total up all the BLM land..
...that it's like the 10th biggest country in the world, or something.
Yeah, some of it is weird exceptions like Nellis AFB, or Whitesands but 90% of it is Sherrif Knottingham stuff, where the land is simply sitting there, empty forever.

I shot a very nice buck on the Bears Ears a long time ago. Threw the carcass on top of my Subaru wagon and hauled it home. Lots of very nice deer up there.

Putting one of the largest coal deposits in the US on ice and off limits to development was a payoff by Bill Clinton to the Indonesian owner of the Lippo Group.
