Blah, blah blah.

Forgive me for not caring what a self admitted doper has to say in defense of dope.

Marijuana vs. Opiates is like apples vs. Oranges. Lots more money in pharmaceuticals. Plus, from a business standpoint, it’s two completely different operations. Think that one out.

Good to see how many freepers agree that this is misallocation of resources. Sadly, there are still a lot of neo-prohibitionists here.

“Pot creates slackers.”

Fallacy. Slackers chose to be slackers.

“My guess is that 100% of homeless smoke pot.”

How do you figure that? Legal cannabis is very expensive. Legal medical cannabis is slightly less expensive & illegal cannabis is very expensive. Homeless people are homeless because they cannot pay for housing. If you can’t pay for housing how are you going to buy your weed?

“The place that denial shines brightest is when a pot smoker says it is not physically addictive, I can quit any time I want.”

When there is actually scientific evidence to confirm your assertions you can do a happy dance and tell everyone “I told you so”. Till that kind of cannabis research is allowed by Fedzilla you’re just sharing an opinion. :)

Yes, they also claim to support smaller government, states' rights & the Bill of Rights.

I live in Commie California. Monday I visited my Doctor and got my script refill of Hydrocodone for my peripheral neurophathy. Went to the Pharmacy and they would refill it. Turns out the State changed the way prescriptions are filled. even changed the type of paper, only thing is, they didn’t inform the Doctors or send them new Scripts. So, all over California people were trying to get refills and were being denied. Well, when you are on Hydrocodone for years, and are cut off, you go into serious withdraw, and if your health is tenuous to begin with, it can be Deadly. Insanity. I wonder how many thousands wound up in emergency rooms?

It’s always amused me when prohibitionists start acting like progressives when someone dares to disagree with them. Just as you can bet on progressives resorting to name calling & arrogant dismissals you can also bet the same money on right-wing prohibitionists to behave similarly.

Thanks for the chuckle, chuckles :)

I have thought it out.

One of the reasons why I think Big Pharma will jump feet first into the free and open pot trade is because of how pot started down the path to legalization in the first place.

As medicinal. They might as well run with that approach.

I’m not locked into the idea that pharmaceuticals will be a major player if it does go mainstream. Maybe they will, maybe they won’t. Maybe all this is too much hypothetical and weed will never see the free market that alcohol has.

Who knows?

But if the entire USA adopts a Colorado approach, corporations could stand to makes billions annually.

“Pot creates slackers.”

Take my dope away and I will wake up with a sudden deep motivation to indulge my protestant work ethic. [sarcasm]

It was Soros’ choice to “legalize” it.

Soros has spent hundreds of millions in the US to get his beloved pot “legalized.”

First of all, you are talking about a few hundred people and most of the increase was from military vets and those looking for a job. Second, if you left it up to the states and most states legalize it, you don’t end up with an influx at all. Third, we spend $25+b a year enforcing MJ laws. Fourth, MJ is no where near as big a problem as alcohol. Fifth, no I don’t smoke it or anything else for that matter - but there is nothing in the constitution that gives the federal government authority to regulate it. It’s a 10th amendment issue, period.

I’m a prohibitionist now?

Show me. Link to a post on this thread or any thread where I’m arguing FOR marijuana being kept as an illegal substance.

Let me make clear my views on dope. It should be left to the states. It should be decriminalized in all states. It should be restricted by law and not be used for tax and spend purposes.

If it must be taxed, then tax the crap out of it as a ‘sin tax’ to offset the negative and destructive social consequences pot brings to our nation.

Marijuana has been used for medicinal purposes for many thousands of years. It wasn’t even made illegal until the 1940s and was used until then for medicinal purposes.
