Rep. Joe Barton, whose private life came under national scrutiny after sexual images he shared in an extramarital relationship were made public, won’t seek re-election.
The Ennis Republican announced his retirement in an interview with The Dallas Morning News on Thursday, three weeks after saying he would seek an 18th term.
"I’ve always listened to people in Texas and worked for them in Washington, and I’ve been listening to a lot of people the last week in Texas," he said. "...There are enough people who lost faith in me that it’s time to step aside and let there be a new voice for the 6th district in Washington, so I am not going to run for re-election."

Haven’t been reading past the headlines on him until now.
“Barton publicly apologized for what he described as consensual sexual relationships with multiple women while separated from his former wife. That marriage — Barton’s second — ended in 2015.”
If this was true, why would he apologize?
Extramarital? He was out and going through a divorce. No reconciling in the cards because his wife had cheated on him.
He got together with this harpie who released their private stuff when she didn’t become the next “Mrs. Congressman”.
He was a blithering idiot, and i’m glad to see him go. Texas can do much better. But that said.... it wasnt extramarital and she was simply a vindictive bit@h.

Pelosi-Conyers-Clinton-Franken-Kennedy-Warren ARE being re-elected, or ARE in re-election apology/fired/demoted mode of near-endless press releases.
This will help prevent the 2004-2006 Congressional election scheme where Pelosi came into power by nibbling away at one, then two, then three, then four republican scandals and making it grow into an entire "throw them all out!" campaign.

No, I didn’t. I just read this in another article and realized that if he was a Democrat, they all would have gone after the twitter poster:
“The episode began earlier this week when a person on Twitter posted an image of what appears to be a nude or partially nude man, now known to be Barton, in a sexually suggestive posture. Parts of his anatomy were blurred out with blue scribbling.”
We see “celebrities” do this all the time after their phones are hacked. I didn’t see where he’d sent anything to a minor.
Just a matter of time before someone turns on Nancy and other women in congress and the senate. Most likely not for sexual peccodilloes, but for some dirty deeds. Payback is a bitch.

Well, as a photographer, i would say he should apologize for the photo on technical terms.
