Many forget that Geisel wrote his books in the 50s and 60s, and was inculcated with the US culture in the 40s. What the SJWs call “racist” today was the common discourse back then. Perceptions, especially (but not exclusively) on the Left, have shifted significantly since that time. It’s commonly said that JFK would be a “conservative” candidate were he to run today.
This brings up alot of premises I question.
Why is black “minstrelry” so bad? Really. What is the big deal?

A child’s first seriously anti-racist book is typically Seuss’ “The Sneetches”.
For the author to ignore that literary beacon while fixating on minutiae elsewhere is malicious.
