This only makes sense if Ttump has better information about what's going on over there than is generally being reported
Maybe the Syrian Kurds aren't very gracious winners and have their own ethnic cleansing goals in their liberated areas
Maybe they are too willing to live with Assad and have lost deep state favor
There is a logic here but we are not seeing it

The United States will cut off its supply of arms to Kurdish fighters in Syria...

Even if true and not exaggerated, I would be surprised if the various Kurdish groups (not all of which are all that great) are running out of weapons to the extent that they need more US weapons after all these years of war and extended support. Is this more symbolic than substantive?

Thanks ColdOne.
In a phone call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Trump said he'd "given clear instructions" that the Kurds will receive no more weapons -- "and that this nonsense should have ended a long time ago," said Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.
The Russians evac'd ISIS fighters; they've been propping up Syria after Iran had been doing that for years, and the Russian escalation was in response to the Obama-Kerry surrender document signed with Iran; there should be a free and independent Kurdistan, but it would have to be carved out of Turkey, Iraq, Iran, and Syria -- and three of them are at least nominally on the same side, and all four are foursquare against that outcome. What will happen now is, Russia will take over sponsorship of the Kurds, and the Turks will make an attempt to strengthen ties with Armenia.

As ****ty as Erdogan is, we really don't want him to fall, unless it is to a military coup -- and what are the odds of success for that at this point? Erdogan has systematically alienated everyone with a common border with Turkey, plus abandoned and alienated Israel (formerly they were srong allies), and stupidly tried to create an economic common market with Syria and Iran, prior to the Syrian civil war.

‘’’if this is true, then Trump picked the wrong side.

Erdogan is an Islamist. What can he offer in return? The only thing I can think of is a promise not to send more “immigrants” into Europe. And we all know what that promise is worth.

On the other hand, the Kurds have a history of protecting Christians. Other than Israel, the Kurds are the only good guys in the region. Why are we abandoning them?’’’

They also have a history of killing Christians en-masse.
As for Erdogan he is also a leader or a NATO ally. Iraq is an ally too. Syria and Armenia are Russia’s ally. Iran is a powerful independent power.
Kurdish ambitions is to carve these nations and they never said it has to be peaceful.
The war with ISIS which was an excuse to arm the Kurds is nearly over.
What for would you give them weapons if not to turn it against the countries mentioned above?

You might be right but it is rather irrelevant for a purpose of this discussion.

The point is, taking down Ergodan, may not turn out any better than taking down Khaddaffi. Spelling leniency requested.
