As he investigates Trump's aides, Robert Mueller's record shows surprising flaws
Los Angeles Times ^ | Nov. 24, 2017 | David Willman

When he was named special counsel in May, Robert S. Mueller III was hailed as the ideal lawman — deeply experienced, strait-laced and nonpartisan — to investigate whether President Trump’s campaign had helped with Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

The accolades squared with Mueller’s valor as a Marine rifle platoon commander in Vietnam and his integrity as a federal prosecutor, senior Justice Department official and FBI director from 2001 to 2013 — the longest tenure since J. Edgar Hoover’s. He was praised by former courtroom allies and opponents, and by Democrats and Republicans in Congress.

But at 73, Mueller has a record that shows a man of fallible judgment who can be slow to alter his chosen course. At times, he has intimidated or provoked resentment among subordinates. And his tenacious yet linear approach to evaluating evidence led him to fumble the biggest U.S. terrorism investigation since 9/11.

A good, critical review of who and what Mueller is. Looks like he could be a wannabe Nifong. Most surprising quote:

The unsuccessful outreach [to Russia] offered Mueller insight into Russian intelligence, which U.S. officials say helped hack and leak Democratic Party emails last year in an effort to undermine U.S. democracy and to help Trump’s campaign. (My bolding.)

Now even the LAT is only referring to the alleged "Russian hack" as something "U. S. officials say" happened. Also looks like Mueller's career is one of a real Dudley Dorignt screwup.

I like to hope that criticism of Mueller by press outlets signals that maybe he’s zeroing in on their leftest gods...

...but I dream.

Every terrorist attack on the US from 9/11 forward has been under his watch. Watch being the operative word. He was warned about the Boston Bombers by Russia, England and Saudi Arabia and did nothing. He agency has watched as American citizens have been killed and has not lifted a finger.

Kind of like how John McCain screamed at Hillary to shut up and get over it today.

We have to pay attention to trends in the talking points coming out of the msm......then we can interpret the level of anxiety re Mueller

The Talking Point Secret Code is both a barometer and a magnifying glass that gives us insight into their shallow psyche

Really where did read that? The noose looks to be tightening daily at these deep state ninnies. It looks like we have reached the inflection point so far as the media narrative is concerned and it is turning against themselves.

It sounds like the LA Times wants to lower expectations that Mueller is going to nail POTUS. They might have to help organize another Liberal Scream/howl at the moon event to help mitigate the collective “progressive” grief. 😏

Why would the LA Times be posting a negative story on Mueller?

A. By some Devine accident, he’s stumbled into the Podesta dirty dealings, and the Slimes doesn’t want to disturb that pile of manure.
B. The dirt on Mueller and Uranium One is about to hit and the Skimes wants to insulate itself.
C. There is no there there and the whole Russian thing is a dry vein. As a result, the investigation is now garbing the Trump team public sympathy.

If the LA Times is attacking Mueller, it might make you think that the trail isn’t leading where they thought it would, doesn’t it?

No, you’re just seeing the true nature of what is going on rather than listening to the echo chamber of BS that most FReepers have been indulging themselves in without a scintilla of evidence to support their nutty ideas. It’s all coming together, but these investigations take time, and are NEVER clear to the public if they are being conducted competently (as this one is). Indictments and punishments will cut across both parties, as it should. But that’s what draining the swamp is all about. Here’s proof:

“When Attorney General Jeff Sessions appeared before the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.), asked whether — were it not for Mueller’s probe — the allegations against Manafort, Gates and the firms with which they did business would have stayed secret.
“The point is that a lot of these things have stayed below the radar because there’s not been appropriate focus and attention on it, and the special investigation has brought that, and in the view of many of us, it’s long overdue,” Johnson said, asking the attorney general, “would you agree to work with us — me and this committee — to correct these very serious problems, so we can update our disclosure laws, so that the American people can see what’s going on behind the veil?”

“I would,” Sessions replied.”

That's my take. LAT ain't amping Mueller because he's nailing Trump. Face it.

I would guess that this is a big week coming up for Uranium One. And "ram-rod straight" Bob Mueller is going to look a little crooked.

Sounds to me like the LAT is deflecting here, covering up for the fact that there's no evidence by shooting the messenger.

What say ye, Freepers? Is Mueller just being overly cautious and thorough in his investigation?
Will he wrap it up and give the patient a clean bill of health?
Or will he keep the wound open, forever probing, hoping he will die on the table?
