It depends on what you and people “near you” have searched for. “Distance” in “near you” means either people with similar IP addresses or router locations. So there may just be a lot of people using Buzzfeed IPs who look that up.

Nope, Youtube doesn’t know what caused it either -

“It has now confirmed that the site’s search bar had been showing disturbing suggestions, but says this is no longer the case.
“Earlier today our teams were alerted to this profoundly disturbing autocomplete result and we worked to quickly remove it as soon as we were made aware,” a YouTube spokesperson told the Independent.
“We are investigating this matter to determine what was behind the appearance of this autocompletion.”

If it wasn’t just a Youtube glitch, it was more than likely something like 4chan-type trolls bombarding the search mechanism with the phrase for laffs (or LULZ, as it’s called) until the search “AI” thought it was the latest popular viral meme or something else that’s normal on the internet and was trying to be ‘helpful’.
