‘Please, God, Don’t Let Me Get Stopped’: Around Atlanta, No Sanctuary for Immigrants
The New York Times ^ | 25 Nov 2017 | Vivian Yee

CHAMBLEE, Ga. — Not many notice when the SUVs arrive.

Around 5 a.m., when the immigration agents pull into the parking lot of the Chamblee Heights apartments, 16 miles from downtown Atlanta, only one person is on the lookout.

Cristina Monteros catches sight of the cars with the telltale tinted windows from her small apartment near the front, where she runs a day care, and calls her downstairs neighbor: ICE is here.

The neighbor dials another, who passes it on. It takes less than 15 minutes for everyone in the complex to hear about “la migra,” whereupon they shut their doors and hold their breath. Some show up late to work, and others skip it altogether. The school bus might leave some children behind.

“It’s just us helping each other out,” said Ms. Monteros, 35. “There’s fear every day.”

Few places in the United States have simultaneously beckoned undocumented immigrants and penalized them for coming like metropolitan Atlanta, a boomtown of construction and service jobs where conservative politics and new national policies have turned every waking day into a gamble.

Oh yea. I bring joy and winning[kinda, not deporting fast enough], courtesy of the NYT.

Plenty of hyperbole. Nobody will need coffee this morning.

In the article:

'Inside the small house was a 48-year-old school maintenance supervisor named David Martinez-Samano, who had a pair of felony convictions for domestic violence from 1996 and 1997, plus a rape charge that a plea bargain reduced to a lesser charge. He had served time in prison and had been deported to Mexico twice.'

Crazy that this isn't explored more in any article. Atlanta school hiring such a dude.

I notice one important word is missing from the title...

“Illegal”

If ICE were smart, they would arrive driving Taco trucks.

People who are susceptible to such blatant emotionalistic manipulation usually want a comic strip, a gossip column, and a horoscope, all on the same page. You want sympathy? Come in legally.

If ICE were smart, they would arrive driving Taco trucks.

In SE Florida, their SUVs are clearly marked; however, of the four Cubans I've encountered since arriving last week, only one spoke English.

At a Winn-Dixie grocery store, a stocking clerk in the cookies section shrugged for not knowing one word of the language of the country in which he'd sought refuge.

I noticed the same word—”illegal”—missing. They wouldn’t have to live in such a high state of alert if they left the U.S. and then tried to come here legally. But if they want to break our laws, let them sweat each day and then hopefully get caught and returned to wherever they came from.

ICE arriving in obvious vehicles, tells me their local managers don’t WANT to catch illegals.

Tells me the same. But remember, their whole government careers have been under Bush-Clinton-Obama, none of whom wanted to stop illegal aliens.

The writer, a leftist from what I’ve read of her’s previously, uses and mixes up “undocumented” (the most), “illegal” once in a while, “immigrant” (as those these are all legal immigrants, etc.

The writing is extremely biased and ICE is turned into the Gestapo. Just because Obama refused to obey and enforce the laws of this country doesn’t mean the new president has to follow his lead.

Illegal immigration is a serious and tender problem that needs some really hard thinking about how to address that issue. Throwing someone who is harmless out and leaving their family behind is not the answer unless that person is a criminal and a threat to society.

But giving them lots of legal rights equal to those of a US citizen is not fair to those citizens nor to those immigrants who came into our country the legal way (often after many years of waiting).

You can’t just cut into the line whenever you want.

How we are going to address this is going to be one of the hardest problems of our times domestically.

Instead of a roving reporter feeding them tips online, illegals in Tampa, Florida have been installing CCTV cameras on their homes, presumably counting on being given enough lead time to escape out the back of the house if/when ICE attempts to detain and deport them.

This is doubtful, however, as Hillsborough County hasn't partnered with ICE in a 287(g) agreement, as has Pasco County to the north. According to an article in the local press recently, Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister, newly appointed, stated his office had NO PLANS to do so. Pinellas County officials however have said they ARE interested.

It's time for U.S. citizens and property owners in sanctuary Hillsborough County to contact their state representative and demand to know why no 287(g) partnership with ICE is being contemplated for Hillsborough County.

Enough is enough. Illegals in Tampa, FL are smug in the knowledge they can continue to blatantly disregard our laws at an alarming rate, while their sheriff deputy friends continue to look the other way.

Sickening, this aiding and abetting of illegality by a local law enforcement agency.

Bank robbers are afraid of cops too... so are child pornographers...

Here’s my suggestion to stop being ‘afraid’...

Don’t rob banks

Don’t exploit children

Don’t break into someone else’s country.

(If you’re illegal - GO HOME TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM)

“Throwing someone who is harmless out ...”

What degree of illegal is still harmless? We either have laws or we don’t. Selective enforcement, even avoiding enforcement, are hallmarks of the psycho progressives, and have no place in a fair and just nation.

Don’t like the law? Change it. Don’t simply ignore it.

The FBI sent 75 agents to Ferguson to start the War On Cops... and for NOTHING.

The FBI needs to reclaim a respectable reputation - - send 75 agents to Tampa... find out why local law enforcement isn't respecting the law.

Monday: Watch from a distance and record who comes out of the apartment building in the morning.

Tuesday: Send the ICE SUVs and see who still comes out normally.

Wednesday: Watch from a distance, and pick up the criminals who came out Monday but not Tuesday.

The truth is not to be found in the NYT so why promote their site and add to their bottom line for advertising? They are the enemy of our sovereignty and the US citizen. Destroying the value of our citizenship, one story at a time.

here in Florida ICE is NEVER found.
Agriculture towns around the big lake Okeechobee have majority illegals and you NEVER see ICE, LaBelle, Pahoke, South Bay, etc.
Orlando is vacation city and again a sizeable proportion of workers in the city are illegal and again ICE is never to be found.

Immigrants are safe in Atlanta...

I’m an immigrant...I go there just about every month...openenly...no shadows necessary...

but illegal aliens might not find it a “Hole-in-the-Wall” type safe place...
