Everybody’s situation is different , if you don’t qualify for the deductions , then the standard deduction is the right way to go.
I’ve never used the standard deduction since I got married and bought a house. I’ve also never got a refund of any significant amount, most years I send them a check.
For certain occupations business expenses such as mileage, tolls, meals ,etc can be deducted.
Again, not every occupation qualifies.
Unless you have a bunch of dependents or make enough money to qualify as a small business, your paying for all of it. While those in the highest bracket might have to skip a day in the Med, you and I chose between cars, health to continue to pay for their one day skip. Let’s hope they don’t suffer too much.
Those with a bevy of kids getting paid, well they don’t have to decide what Medicine they will get instead.
I took a position of less pay because in the end, I would make the same after taxes and I refuse to finance more obamaphones and Med vacations.
That’s not proof there will be a tax increase.
I’d like to see some objective primary source proof that the tax bill will be an increase for the middle class. Do you have any?
Lol.. Not sure who you think you are demanding something from me. I assume you can read, so read this..
You assert in post 32 the tax bill is a tax increase;
“I like the simplification of the tax, but raising my taxes... Really?”
The assertion is your to back up with objective primary source proof. Do you have any? Or do you just blow smoke like the other here who make the assertion without proof?
I’m an ex-NYer. I know everyone’s circumstances are different, but at some point you have to read the writing on the wall, pull up stakes and move to red or purple states. Nowadays, I go home to visit family and feels like I’m going to Pyongyang.
There is zero hope for rehabilitating those communist cesspits that should be targeted by this Republican proposal. The left argues we can’t cut spending and tax cuts should be budget neutral. Ok, then let their states lose their heavy federal tax credit.
I assume you live in one of the communist states that this targets. I suggest that you move as soon as possible for many reasons not the least of which including this tax plan. You can make a better life for yourself in a redder state and we could also use your vote there instead. I left NY and haven’t looked back.
I’m past the point of trying to reason with liberals - ie, dogmatic morons who are impervious to reason. The only hope of a breakthrough is by forcing them to choke on their own hypocrisy. They insist that we can’t cut spending yet demand an especially large a tax write-off for their state and local profligacy. Well, sorry. Let them pay the kind of taxes that their style of government requires.
I’m sorry that you’ll be caught in the blast zone, but if you live in one of their communist hellholes, this should just be the latest reason in a whole list of reasons for you to move. I’m sorry if your circumstances prevent you from doing so, but I hope that that changes for you sooner rather than later.
A fair point.
But millions of people aren’t gonna up an move overnight. Raising their taxes is losing politics in the extreme.
