New Delhi -- The reach of a weapon possessed dictate the size of a nation's "area of influence". Every country also attempts to acquire technologies and weaponry to keep pace with its "area of interest" in pursuance of the larger national aim. And the effort of matching the "area of interest" with the "area of influence" is considered as balanced growth in military modernization.
The great visionaries of Indian Defence Forces along with the scientific fraternity, fully supported by the Government, have constantly been making efforts to remain prepared to march ahead with the growing national ambitions.
The Indian Air Force has taken one such daring step by putting their faith in BrahMos Aerospace wherein the Air Version of the unique supersonic cruise missile BRAHMOS was sought to be integrated with the mighty Sukhoi-30 (SU-30) combat aircraft. The military planners quite clearly understood the global impact of such a deadly weapon-platform combination which would result in the incarnation of such a powerful modern strike system having pin-point accuracy and unmatched flexibility by way of long range and lightening speed.
The design and development effort of this magnitude was a unique challenge willingly taken up by BrahMos Aerospace backed with the scientific wealth of DRDO, CSIR and a consortium of Public & Private Industries / Institutions. The ambitious project also had the full support of the expertise of Indian Air Force. The cooperation from the Russian partner was always forthcoming with uniqueness of undertaking every single Design & Development activity in India.
The successful flight trial of BRAHMOS from the Sukhoi-30 has once again proved the excellent synergy of efforts among the IAF, DRDO, HAL, Russian counterparts, CEMILAC, RCMA, NAL, NTAF and other industry partners with BrahMos Aerospace as lead agency.
Dr Sudhir Mishra DG DRDO BrahMos & CEO & MD BrahMos Aerospace reiterated that we are committed to provide the best weapon system to the Indian Navy Army & Airforce.
In a first of its kind in the world, a heavy fighter aircraft having a range of more than 3,000 km has been modified to carry a 2.5-ton missile integrated with half-a-ton launcher capable of engaging sea and land targets with 300-km standoff distance. With air-to-air refueling of the combat platform, its strike range can be extended to much beyond 5,000-km.
The gigantic task of such a magnitude was taken up in India for the very first time. It involved major modifications to the aircraft structure, undertaking aerodynamic analysis, wind tunnel tests, design, development and fabrication of heaviest and longest airborne launcher ever known to be used with a fighter aircraft in the world, interfaces with aircraft, release mechanism, Fire Control System (FCS) and the air version of BRAHMOS Supersonic Cruise Missile itself.
Individually, when two of the most powerful and dominant weapon systems are paired, they will certainly make the Indian Air Force the most formidable air force for which no known technology in the world can provide an antidote.
With this, the IAF becomes the world's first air power to possess such unbeatable and unmatched combat capability which will empower it to penetrate and strike deep in the heart of the adversary evading the most hardened air defence means. And this capability of the Indian Air Force is bound to galvanize India's growing military potential to an unprecedented level.
BRAHMOS, being the most accurate and powerful supersonic cruise missile system, has established its brand name in the world market. Similarly, the power, flexibility and the reach of Sukhoi-30 has attracted many buyers world over. The combination of these two military systems will beyond doubt attract the attention of many countries across the continents.
Is this an ad in an arms trade journal?
It kinda reads like one.
IT does, doesn’t it?
But it is a heck of a fighter and a heck of a missile.
I couldn't say on my own, but I believe you. I bet all of our defense manufacturers place similar breathless press releases in their targeted customer countries.
Absolutely.
I remember reading some really great adverts like this old National Geographic magazines of all things!
It’s like being the best bagpipes player in Harlem.
This is a Russian missile that is currently the most advanced weapon of it’s kind . India bought the missiles and part of the deal was that Russia would let India pretend it had something to do with making them.
Let’s see: India’s enemies are the Pakistanis and the Chicoms. India’s friend is the US. Russia sells India weapons that can hurt the Chicoms yet India sided with the USSR-not the US-during the cold war. Had to do with Pakistan. So the question is: When will these countries realize that they are better having the US as friends? I thought Russia was working with the Chicoms to put pressure on us. They may soon end up needing us to keep the Chicoms from taking over Siberia. Shades of border wars in 69’.
You overlooked one thing...during the cold war, United States was the main supplier of military hardware to Pakistan. And all of it was FREE with the Billions of dollars given to Pakistan as foreign aid. Imagine the world’s oldest democracy arming a dictatorship country whose only known enemy was the largest democracy (by population) in the world. Makes sense?
I wouldnt exactly call India a democracy
They have only approximated it
Some states like Calcutta/West Bengal
were Commie to the core
They thought throwing off the colonial yoke and
Non-aligned socialism was the way to go
“The Communist Party USA (CPUSA) is a communist political party in the United States.[4] Established in 1919 after a split in the Socialist Party of America, it has a long, complex history that is closely tied with the U.S. labor movement and the histories of communist parties worldwide.”

Did you know India requires a gov’t issued picture ID to vote? Did you know India has printed 800 Million voter ID’s? I am betting you did not.
I am well aware that Pakistan played us, especially after the Russkies invaded Afghanistan.
Lets not forget that Pakistan is a creation by the Brits and US for keeping an eye on the USSR. India was carved up, and you want them to trust the US?
‘’’I wouldnt exactly call India a democracy

It is not like another known democracy doesn’t have states like Vermont and puts people like Bernie Sanders in Congress.
At least H-> got a post office renaming
Can anyone name one bill that Sanders sponsored?
The fact this phony had more than a Starbucks full of supporters is troubling
Au contraire, I sure did, but that ID alone means nothing.
The caste system is alive and well, their corruption is legendary,
Their idea of how women should dress and act in their society is Victorian I wish I could banish every pussy hat wearing freak there,..
Yep, that is my point. In light on that you shouldn’t be be so tough on India.
