The idea is to encourage people to hand their wartime souvenirs or heirlooms over to police.
With four days left of the great guns amnesty, Torquay police have been showing off the latest haul of firearms handed in at the town's police station. The guns and ammunition add to an already-impressive collection of guns taken out of circulation.
The idea of the fortnight-long firearms surrender is to encourage people who have guns at home - possibly wartime souvenirs or heirlooms - to hand them over to police.
The amnesty period runs until Sunday November 26 and they can be handed in to police inquiry offices in Barnstaple, Exeter, Plymouth and Torquay.
Earlier this week at one Westcountry police station a deadly assault rifle was the first item handed in. The AK-47 firearm was handed in to Trowbridge police.
A rifle, several boxes of shotgun cartridges and containers filled with bullets were among items handed in to Torquay police and Inspector Si Jenkinson commented: "This isn't just about firearms. Ammunition is also welcome. This lot has just been handed in at Torquay - definitely safer in our hands than anyone else's!"
The latest haul at Torquay includes bullets and cartridges, pistols, rifles and a 12-bore shotgun. Old wartime service revolvers are pictured in the police station, along with antique handguns and an automatic pistol.
"...amnesty is nearly over..."
Once this goal of "common sense gun control" is achieved, these people had better learn how to kneel before their masters, the state, because they are now servants who have just surrendered their remaining means of resistance to tyranny. They are now without defense and at the mercy and whim of the state.
Good luck with that.
I watch in shock and awe at how many western people are willingly surrendering their God-given right of self defense to the state. Surely we must be in the end times that is paving the way for a one-world tyranny against soon to be defenseless populations.
Abominable! Our gun grabbers think the same way. "Guns for the State ... slavery for the people."
SO...... how many crimes were committed with these ‘family heirlooms’ ?
The tend to look like this:

Heads Up Brits
Only 4 days to head out on those fishing trips
The ones where unfortunate things happen
like losing weapons overboard
How do you say Molon Labe in uh...English?
How England has fallen.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assize_of_Arms_of_1181
The Assize of Arms of 1181 was a proclamation of King Henry II of England concerning the obligation of all freemen of England to possess and bear arms in the service of king and realm and to swear allegiance to the king, on pain of “vengeance, not merely on their lands or chattels, but on their limbs”.
Meanwhile muzzie terrorists are smirking ...
6.Any burgess who has more arms than he ought to have by this assize shall sell them, or give them away, or in some way alienate them to such a man as will keep them for the service of the lord king of England. And none of them shall keep more arms than he ought to have by this assize.
Hmmmm ... Even then, they were imposing arms control. Weapons were for the State, not for the People.
I hope they plan to follow this program but start by handing over the ammo first.
So much facepalm. SO. MUCH.
Always give tyrants your bullets first.
When sharia takes over disarmed English will be "pacified."
The same town where Fawlty Towers was located. Not a surprise.
HELL NO.
We won't abide such a heinous law, and if they deign to make one, WE WILL NOT OBEY IT. At the signing of such a confiscation law, the civil war is ON, and all political types who voted for such an evil mandate will be legitimate military targets for the militia of the United States, which is the whole people.
