Nope he or she should not get a crack on the ass. Adults should respect a child who is not comfortable with physical contact. We all have physical boundaries we do not want breached, that includes children.
But perhaps you can explain why a child should be forced to exhibit physical affection and why that compulsion should not also apply to adults. “Because they are children” does not count as a reasonable reply.
I’m sixty-eight years old and I can still remember how loved I felt when my grandparents hugged me.
Nope not falling for any “male predators are everywhere..” I am defending the natural right for children to set their own boundaries (With some reasonable exceptions such as medical care.) when it comes to physical contact, including that meant to express affection.
And I am right in writing that instilling in our children the idea that they cannot refuse physical affection from an adult they know is one factor that abusers use in grooming victims.
Kind of worrisome how many don’t get that.

Mine was a joke amd maybe it is not funny either... It was a pun and nothing more...
But I can imagine both scenarios:
1 - child legitimately feels uncomfortable as if there is something inappropriate in the physical attention coming from the relative
2 - child is for whatever reason just being rude, insensative, or even intentionally hurtful
In one case the child should be protected, in the other the child should be corrected. In either case it is the parents responsibilty to discern and act accordingly.
meh. Parents may not be able to tell what the kid is thinking... I honestly don’t care if someone’s feelings were hurt if my girls did not want to get that close for a hug. If the kid is happy to see them, the hug comes naturally.
I certainly would not have spanked them for not giving in to somebody’s need to touch them ( and i am not against spanking). and if an adult could not take no for an answer that certainly is more about control than wanting a hug.

If they are related to Uncle Joe Biden, I can understand them not wanting hugs.

I took my daughter out of the Lesbian Scouts long, long ago. Went to a Christian based scout organization after that, but it’s been so many years, I don’t remember the name.

But the Girl Scouts will be okay if Joe Biden hugs them. Another reason my daughters aren’t in Girl Scouts. A few weeks ago, the local girl scouts had a cookie drive and one of the member selling cookies was a boy. The adult at the cookie booth said that it’s nice that a boy wanted to be a girl in the scouts. I just shook my head.
If your uncle is Creepy Joe, this is good advice.
