They worked the Boy Scouts every which way. First there were pederast scoutmasters. So they banned them. Then they became the favorite target of the left, trying to force their way in. Eventually the left succeeded. Now they ought to just merge it all under Gay Scouts of America.

If a child has been conditioned to believe that unwanted touching by an adult must be tolerated...

None of your fellow FReepers are advocating that. Why do you fall in-line with the GSUSA contention that male predators are everywhere and, if not for their sage advice, people would be forcing their kids to accept the abuse? As post #4 put it, this is simply more misandry coming from an national organization that is increasingly anti-male (grandpa wants to molest your daughter) and anti-family (we're the experts in your daughter's social development, not you).

Had America not given in to the leftist Playboy driven sexual revolution and taught and valued chastity and virginity and sexual self mastery, the physical expressions of friendship and kinship would be healthy and not even suspect.

In much of Mexico, there is lots of hugging. If an uncle steps out of bounds the men in the family take care of it permanently, at the same time saving and preserving the victims’ dignity, sense of self worth and safety.

I agree with this. I didn’t want to hug or kiss some of my nasty relatives when I was young.

Same here. My step-dad was great but his father was a handsy old drunk when I was a teen.

hear, hear. With some folks here, even a “what is your favorite pie” thread circles around to abortion. Flame away.

If WBill Jr. wants the cookie jar to keep getting refilled, then Grandma better keep getting hugs.

Girl Scouts tells parents not to force daughters to hug relatives over the holidays

Yeah, especially if one of those relatives is "Uncle" Joe Biden.

Having said that, The Girl Scouts today probably isn't the same Girl Scouts I knew of growing up as a kid. Back then, your scout leader was probably a stay at home housewife, one of your girlfriends' (or in my case, my sister's girlfriends') moms.

Today she may be a lesbian with an agenda. Remember, whether male or female, people who have an "unnatural" interest in children tend to seek out places where they can establish themselves as trusted authority figures.

Accordingly, when the Girl Scouts (and Boy Scouts) announced that they were going to allow gays to be scout leaders, I've considered them to be a questionable choice for parents.

My pet peeve is the cookies. I recently found out they only get 3% of the proceeds from the cookie sale. 30 cents from a $10 box of cookies is wrong. These girls work themselves like rented mules for this fund raising activity and it’s for nothing

You found out wrong. Other than the cost of the cookies from the baker (recently was .81 per box), 100% of the cookie money stays with the local council and troop. The troop gets approximately 20%. The local council uses the money for training, camps, etc. None of the money goes to the national organization, who gets donations from the 2 major bakers for getting/providing the contract.

If the girls do not see any tangible benefit from the cookies they sold, perhaps their troop chose to use the money for a service project (donate it) but that 20% can pay for trips, etc. for the girls.

had my daughters in Girl Scouts for 1 year, about 13 years ago.

There wasn’t a strong pro-left social message that we saw, but things seemed to be centered around the cookie sale, and a activities were dumbed down and made politically correct to fit their modern outlook.

We pulled out within 6 months.

Another institution successfully destroyed by the Left.

My question is, I was just 16 years old and handled it better than the grown women complaining now. Why on earth didn’t any of them fight back?

An interesting question.

For now, they apparently see an opportunity to pile on, since the offenders' media "cover" is slipping.

OK, this story totally changed my mind on the Boy Scouts now recruiting girl members. Before I had a few (but not many
misgivings). Now, I have none.

If a relative goes to hug a child and the child says no, the little hellion ought to get a crack on the ass. ...How’s that for a lesson?

I suggest everyone take their girls out of the girl scouts and place them in an American Heritage Girls troop.

I agree. I don’t understand why allowing effusive adults to force themselves on unwilling small children is considered teaching good manners.

Allowing your kids to set physical boundaries with relatives who are unfamiliar to them is good parenting.

How arrogant for the Girl Scouts to assume that they have any business telling parents anything about how to great loved ones in their own homes.
