x_plus_one, crashes happen. They happen all the time in aviation, and with planes flying over long stretches of water with no divert, they likely happen at a greater frequency.
This has nothing to do with the spate of ship collisions in the last year.
It is not a systemic problem (except for perhaps training or readiness)
This is the first C-2A Greyhound to crash in a long time. A FIRST for passengers and crew to survive crashing (ditching) at sea. Have flown it. It’s a big hydraulically controlled whale sized cargo plane. True miracle they were not all killed.
