What a very well written, thoughtful story, thanks for sharing.
What BettyJane said, but also, I think you should send this to the NFL as well. These nuckleheads have no idea the damage they have done.
So it’s not the times in which we live, the liberal
dominant media today, the attorney and litigation
crazy culture which has evolved?
I would submit that Lombardi, Landry, Grant, and others
had the backing of the whole of society because that is
the way things were. Unfortunately, the world they
operated in no longer exists.
I wouldn't imprison UCLA dindu shoplifters in there. Cruel and unusual punishment
Take a Knee My Ass
I pledge allegiance to the flag
Of the United States of America
Ill stand and place my hand upon my heart
Every time her anthem plays
When I see somebody on TV
Take their stand on bended knee
Whether its on astroturf or grass
I think of those whose freedom was not free
I say, Take a knee? My ass!
Ill stand up for the flag
Take off my hat for Old Glory
Thank God I live in the home of the brave
And the land of the free
Ill honor the ones who gave it all
So were all free to go play ball
If only for their sake
I wont take a knee
From Valley Forge to Vietnam
9/11 to Afghanistan
That star-spangled banner does yet wave
I wont forget I owe a debt of gratitude
I never can repay
Arm and arm and side by side
American heroes fought and died
Is showing some respect too much to ask?
I speak for those whose freedom was not free
And I say, Take a knee? My ass!
Ill stand up for the flag
Take off my hat and [something] glory
Thank God I live in the home of the brave
And the land of the free
Ill honor the ones who gave it all
So were all free to go play ball
If only for their sake
I wont take a knee
O say can you see?
If only for their sake
I wont take a knee

Great post, OneVike. Appreciate you sharing this one.
Well I see one glaring difference between that roster and most NFL rosters today.
Yep, different world. Rush said in the 1980s that we were losing our common morality. Spot on. Im sure most teams management is full of four+ year university grads (the PC indoctrinated). The republic is ours to lose...
:^)
We concur. I too began listening to Rush in the 1980s.
More precisely, in 1985 after he first came to
Sacramento. And, you?
Also, polymuser, the term ‘poly’ is part of the name of
the college I attended. Did you happen to attend college
in California?
Yep around 85 on a Midwest AM powerhouse station. Nope, never Cali. Multiple thinking -> poly muser.
That wasn’t a Midwest powerhouse station, that
was 1530 KFBK AM in Sacramento, the only Rush station
at the time. He only did a local show until he moved
to New York in ‘88. Even when he moved to NYC he
still did a local show for Sacramento the first month
or two.
OK, I tuned in later 80s then, when syndicated.
Then you were among the first nationwide. That’s great!
Sacto yokels who listened before syndication knew he
would rock the radio world across the land. A thought would
enter your head while driving and the next thing you
knew he was saying it as if he pulled it right out of your brain like he was channeling you. Then listeners would
call in and express how they were all thinking the same
stuff as he was vocalizing. Funny thing was whenever he
appeared on local TV like in a debate format he came
across as unnatural, he struggled and looked uneasy.
Cheers
Ditto!
