I don't think I would ever mistake hibiscus for marijuana, and I am neither a botanist nor a pothead. The jagged leaves and color of marijuana leaves are very distinctive.

A friend of mine had his front door kicked in by the po-po for having this
in his front window.
He got evicted because the damage to the doorframe wasn't paid for by the cops, the LL expected him to pay for it.
