In Era of Mass Murder, Second Amendment Advocate An Unlikely Hero

Few things are more painful to me than the abuse of power, or incompetence in the execution of that power. The consequences for those affected by such malfeasance and clumsiness are so great as to demand a sense of outrage from us all.

Over the last year, for example, dozens of men, including the president of the United States himself, have been credibly accused of sexual assault and sexual misconduct. And the fact that they were powerful men made the allegations really sting.

That’s why I find misconduct and chicanery on the part of the law enforcement community so troubling. We should be able to trust the police to do the right thing, or at least they should go through the motions of pretending to do so.

That did not happen in the case of Michael Picard, an East Hartford man who acted lawfully but was abused by the State Police, who to this day refuse to admit any wrongdoing in trumping up phony charges against the then-27-year-old.

Picard is a Second Amendment advocate who also happens to detest random drunk driving checkpoints set up by police. On Sept. 11, 2015, Picard and a friend were standing on the side of Park Road in West Hartford near the I-84 on-ramp entrance. He was armed with a video camera. In his holster was a pistol for which he had a valid permit.

The police were caught on tape conspiring to come up with false charges to arrest Michael Pickard on.

The CT Police Internal Affairs cleared them, claiming Cover Your @ss was just a personal phrase.

I say police the police by the game wardens. The police are hunters with limites powers and reach just as a hunter has a set amount of days or tags and what not. Poachers should get zero tolerance and severely punished and game warden are very apt at doing the bean and meat counting and exacting sanctions.

The article seem to think rare are 2A people who are skeptical of police. Nothing could be further from the truth. While we recognize police has the same right of uninfringed self defense in and out of duty which should allow them more latitude than the hunting limits, and that police work is a thankless job, we are not fools and understand the predatorial temptations and them being upset at being reasonably watched in particular.

I sincerely believe for instance that the BLM activism is aimed at helping the state and police, even inciting it to change predatorial rules and get poaching on white people. If the activism was truly about curbing the Police, Al Sharpton and DeBlasio would go after their unions and half million a year pension ruining the city economy in NYC and not allowing gun control. Bottom line is they are not going for the most DISCRIMINATED of American, which is the one with a gun, a camera and free speech, who is right when they are wrong. Being black arrested by a racist cop is one thing, but being right when they are wrong and could go to jail
destroying years of court testimony validity, is when they will positively crucify you and ruin you and sometimes your family’s life
petitioning.

I have known a lot of game wardens who loved to issue tickets to judges and police.

Unfortunately, it was only game and fish violations.

I think the feds should be able to go after police corruption in the states and local governments, and the local police should be able to go after police corruption in the federal police.
