I’m the same way! Glad you reminded me of that, I had forgotten that Rush also hates fruit & exercise. I wonder if people do the “all fruit?, even bananas?” question when he mentions it. I get it every time. Then we go down the list. Do you like peaches? nope. Watermelon? nope. Apples? no. What part of “I hate fruit” is so hard to get? :)
He should do the giveaways off air and not even mention that he does it. He would still be generous and the crowd that is only looking for free stuff from him wouldn’t be inclined to call.

Based on their tenuous grasp of the issues - any issue - I would say you’re correct.
These calls are the political talk version of faith healings, with lots of histrionics from both caller and host. ‘Oh Lord I can see now!’ If Rush isn’t clued in to their obvious attempt to get the goodies then he has been holed up too long. If he’s in on it (with the help of his staff) then he is perpetrating a fraud.
