It appears that crime is so low in Detroit that police are left trying to arrest each other. On the East side of Detroit, the 12th Precinct sent in a team of special ops officers to pretend to be drug dealers. At the same time, the 11th Precinct sent in officers pretending to a drug buyers. The rest will long be the subject of law enforcement legend.
Sources say that both undercover teams pulled their guns in attempting to arrest the other and ordered the other team to drop to the ground. That is when the rest of the special ops team from the 12th Precinct showed up, and officers began raiding a house in the 19300 block of Andover.

Typical government. The left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing.
Since its Detroit, its hopeless. so just legalize the drugs and fire the .gov employees. Then Detroit will be ahead (by about 1 mm).
Just enforce existing laws and this crap wiull stop.
Charge and Prosecute every last one there with:
Assault on a Peace Officer
Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Peace Officer
Attempted Murder of a Peace Officer
They did the Crime now Prosecute ALL OF THEM!!!
Ignorance of the law is not an excuse or a defense
Sounds like a good onion article.
Great idea for a movie: City has been cracking down on drug dealers for decades and the problem hasn’t gone down, but it turns out that the police response is so big that ALL of the drug sellers and buyers are undercover cops.
While the whole point of being undercover is so that the entire force DOESN’T know you are, for the safety of the undercover cop...I think it might be helpful to have the guys undercover know whose who at least.
It’s probably not the first time this has happened. Kind of funny actually and good to see the Detroit cops are doing something.
GK Chesterton wrote a classic story “The Man Who Was Thursday” about a police inspector infiltrating gang of anarchists. It eventually becomes apparent that everyone in the gang is a police inspector. There are no anarchists in the gang of anarchists. Just police.
I think I saw that movie ,LOL
Undercover sellers sell to undercover buyers and undercover SWAT jumps out.
Everyone arrests everyone and they are taken to and undercover court where an undercover judge remands them to stay under their bed covers as punishment.
Can’t make this up.
Don’t precincts have mutually exclusive jurisdictions? Did the fight happen at the precinct border?
officers punching each other in the melee
I've never been punched in the melee (been punched in the belee though); but I'll be it really hurts.
“Sources say that both undercover teams pulled their guns in attempting to arrest the other and ordered the other team to drop to the ground. “
I’ve seen that movie.
Or an SNL skit if they were still worth watching.
Well isn’t that special
Similar thing happened a couple of years ago when the FBI was investigating the klan, everyone at the meeting was from the FBI.
“What we have here is failure to communicate.” LOL! ;)
