I used to wring my hands every time I heard about a kid at a public school being expelled for carrying a squirt gun. Then I realized that, with tens of thousands of public schools, and every “man bites dog” story getting to the top of the news feed, I was going to be hearing about the two or three times a year it happened as though it was some sort of epidemic when, in reality, it was exposing that every now and then you come across a low quality school principle.

Same with this. In a country of 330 million, this is not exactly an epidemic. In fact, if the MSM decided they wanted us out of cars, they could just breathlessly report the ten or 15 worst traffic accidents of the day, every day, and suddenly a lot of people would be shouting, “Something MUS BE DONE - FOR THE CHILDREN!”

This same psychology is what created BLM and the false meme that innocent and unarmed black men are getting gunned down constantly by racist KKK cops.

This is one of the downsides of coming into an internet “news saturation” culture from our old “a few news networks” culture. But as the population becomes more educated on how to interpret this information, not only will people curb their strong reaction, but the population will probably bore of it.

For the entire history of mankind, every single day a lot of people are murdered, raped, eaten fall from cliffs, you name it. It’s just that now, thanks to the internet and smart phones, we get to see most of them in glorious color and 30 fps on our 24” flat screens and hi-res smart phones. And in our naivety we think it’s getting worse, when it is actually getting better, at least on most fronts.
