Correct me if I am wrong, but ‘carried interest’ involves what Candidate Trump correctly characterized as ‘paper pushing’ which today is keyboard-clicking, where a financial trader is positioned to borrow at a low-interest rate and loan out at higher interest. This is known as the ‘Carry Trade’ and yes, it is taxed at a low rate which is not commensurate with it being an activity which makes nothing, adds nothing to the real economy.
