“Moore was accused of inappropriate conduct with a 14-year-old some 39 years ago, when he was 32. He also was accused of trying to date three other women aged 16, 17 and 18 at around the same time.”
In the 1970’s in Alabama I suspect that none of these ‘facts’ (if true) would have alarmed anyone. I expect it was normal behavior for much of the state and it seems it was pretty normal for much of the country at the time.

Not at 14. I was 19 and my wife was 17. We married in 1977 and her father had to sign for it down at the court house. Was still 18 in the west.

Age of consent was 14 at the time in Alabama, some child marriages we’re allowed as young as 13. What Moore ‘may have done’ was not illegal at the time. In Alabama, it was common place. If I understand correctly, he wasn’t married then.
The libs have spent years trying to tell us that we shouldn’t judge the past by today’s standards. That the past should be looked at through the eyes of the times in which they happened. I fought with this in college because human moral standards change over time. I had a teacher in college who was trying to justify Adolff Hitler’s actions during ww2.
She looked at the world through the eyes of humanism while my perspective was more Christian based.
NOW we have people wanting to hand Moore from a short rope swinging from a short tree in an Alegator swamp for being a man of the times. A bit hippocritical, doncha think?
