“Based on those troop level numbers, would the Saudis augment their forces by hiring mercenaries?”

They already hired us didn’t they?

I anticipated that response. Assuming they had no other major allies then.

Would not be a surprise if this came up for discussion while he was there, may also have told the Saudis, lets start cleaning house and they took him up on it and started things rolling.

the war is already centuries old, and antedates Islam. I suspect the Iranian army is at least of a quality with that of Turkey and Jordan, and only Egypt and Turkey match Iran for population. Egypt's got troubles of its own, all of which are being stoked by Iran or its allies. Saudi Arabia has managed to accumulate more weapons that can be used by its native population, and roughly one fifth of the population is non-native, mostly guest workers who do the bulk of the labor in the society. Russia and Saudi Arabia reached an agreement for crude production to induce price stability, of benefit to both, and the opening of US production to the world market a few years ago made that necessity. In the event of a war, the Russians will try to play both sides, but ultimately will want to keep their fat 45% of the EU market for themselves, and know that the EU, US, and Saudi Arabia (and China, for that matter) will support the Kdm. Thanks jazusamo.

I have no answers to this.

SA is in turmoil internally, but is resolute in fixing some things.

Lots of pieces in the air.

But remember, US is their primary arms supplier. And SA and Israel have pretty good relations now. Same with Jordan and Egypt.

Iran? Insane with hate Mullahs.

Right now Russia and U.S. are the folks to keep in check the Islamists. Will they do it? They have for some time in spite of Iran. Neither wants a conflict with the other.

Turkey? Nothing but trouble, just like Iran. Turkey is dependent on US for weapons. Recently cozied to Russia. Putin still remembers when Erdogan shot down one of his jets.

We shall see.

We need to stay out of it and let them destroy each other. Both nations are enemies of the US.

Never forget that the Saudis were responsible for 9/11. They are also responsible for the pro-islamic propaganda in American public schools. They are just as dangerous as Iran.

No more Globalist wars!! For once, we need to mind our own business.

The world would be a better place without SA and Iran.

“America will some how be involved. This is serious business.”

We need to stay the hell out of it and let them destroy each other.

Well, we might want to insure that neither side runs out of any military equipment or ammunition. Plus, we could secretly blow up the occasional city, and blame it on the other side.

The Saudis can blame it on Obama for giving Iran all that money.

I could be wrong, but I have seen no indication that the Sowdie people have any inclination to be anything other than antagonistic towards the West. (BOOM!)

Unless they’ve all already been killed (no thanks to the Kenyan bastard) the Iranians probably need help liberating themselves.

Not sure what you’re referring to.

The ‘petrodollar’, as it’s called, only began in the early 1970’s with a nifty quid pro quo with Saudi Arabia.

That’s less than 50 years.

This is all true and I am in agreement with you.

However, the main supporting structure to the US Dollar is that SA only accepts USD for it’s oil. And the others in the Cartel follow suit.

If that stops, a collapsing dollar is not far behind.

The consequences to Americans if/when the dollar no longer is the world’s reserve currency would be severe, to say the least.

We are hanging on a very thin thread right now. And, yes, it is our own fault; the result of irresponsible giverning.

The value of the US Dollar, and thus our entire lifestyle and quality of life, is dependent upon the petrodollar.

Without the petrodollar, we would all be living in poverty.

It is a scam, but it must be participated in, lest my kid’s antibiotics skyrocket to $3400 a bottle.

and that is exactly what would happen if the petrodollar failed.

especially if they allow live news reports of the action. None of this embedded pool reporter crap. Just imagine your favorite main stream media commentator doing live broadcasts from the front.

Not sure what you’re referring to.

Not surprising. Mostly potheads know this fact. They miss the point too.

The point is oil dependence had been decided long before our dependence began. It was begun entirely to enrich islam and make it a viable world power.

Henry Ford made his prototype vehicle out of cannabis because it is an easily obtainable product. Think of how different our world would have been if we had used agricultural instead of petrochemical for transportation. A lot of wars would never have been.
