Stalin is always going to be remembered and revered for saving the Russian people from the Genocidal machinations of Hilter who publicly proclaimed his intent to exterminate every last Slav. Just as we will always remember and rever Lincoln despite his inducement of a bloody civil war and transforming America from a republic into an Empire with all the power in DC. Great men are frequently evil but are always remembered for what they achieved, not for their many crimes.

So how many times did you personally see an icon of Stalin in people’s homes during all your years in St. Petersburg?
In order for it to be even marginally considered an icon, Stalin would have to be drawn with a halo around his head indicating the creator considered him a saint (contrary to the teaching of the Russian Orthodox Church).
