University of Wisconsin-Madison faculty members have adopted a resolution encouraging campus administrators to implement a plan to become carbon neutral by 2050 or sooner.
The UW-Madison Faculty Senate unanimously passed the resolution on Nov. 6, said sponsor, Kurt Paulsen, an associate professor in urban planning.
The resolution encourages funding, creation and implementation of a campus-wide climate action plan with specific and measurable targets.
Sustainability improvements on campus often require financial investments, Blank stressed. And investments in the campus state-owned buildings often requires state approval and funding, she said.
Blank in closing quoted former Wisconsin governor and U.S. Sen. Gaylord Nelson, the namesake of The Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies on our campus: The ultimate test of a mans conscience may be his willingness to sacrifice something today for future generations whose words of thanks will not be heard.
Those words continue to inspire today, she said.

Otherwise it's just virtue signaling.
Can someone break the news to them that air travels freely across campus boundaries?
They need to institute a “five year plan”.
The Faculty will excuse themselves from any action.

So the faculty will be walking instead of riding, living in houses without heat or air-conditioning, not eating meat or dairy products, etc.?
And no more dope smoking!
It produces CO2 and pollutes the air!
They were with you until the last item - no need to get extreme!
GREAT argument for not running up the national debt and dumping that burden on the unborn. If only liberals could control their spending...
The real reason....”The resolution encourages funding...”
They could do their bit by shutting off HVAC systems in the admin offices and the boardroom. You know, put a little of their good intentions into some action that can actually be felt.
The real climate deniers are those who think they can stop the climate from changing by modifying their lifestyles and energy choices.
Considering that where I’m sitting was buried beneath a mile or more of ice just a geological heartbeat ago, their delusions of being able to stop climate changes exhibit a group hysteria worthy of psychological investigation.
“Otherwise it’s just virtue signaling.”
No ‘otherwise’ about it. They’ve ALREADY drunk the Kool Aid. Hell, they SWIM in it in, ‘The People’s Republik of Madistan.’
This is all for show. If you’ve ever been on that campus, it is HUGE - with lots of old, energy-wasting buildings that they keep limping along, while they use time, money and resources to build newer, LARGER buildings - which, while they may be more energy efficient, they are certainly LARGER in scale and probably use as much energy as the old buildings (which they don’t tear down!), just based upon scale/size.
I’d like to see the Faculty insist that they shut down the sports-related buildings/facilities. *SNORT* Now THAT would get them some totally unwanted attention, LOL!
You should see the Ag Barn! That thing alone must suck energy like nobody’s business!
And while they’re at it, how about damming up the lakes that surround Madistan and convert all to hydro-electric power? That’ll get the EnviroWackos out in force, LOL!
I could go on but - I MOVED AWAY from there for a reason! (My sanity!)

What did you do wrong to get committed to that looney bin? That school is on the do not hire list at my company. If an applicant attended college there, we immediately toss the application.
Here are the DOZENS of projects currently happening on the UW Campus. No expense is spared! Beau worked on the new Alumni Facility on the lake & the upgrades to the Union, prior to his retirement last year.

This is the home for the Dean of Agriculture, slated for renovation so they can host weddings there! Weddings! WTF does that have to do with getting an education?
And no more toilet paper in the bathrooms! Think of the trees KILLED for such an abased use!
A bucket of sand in each stall.
The UW-Madison faculty politburo can huff and puff all it wants, Gov. Walker and the Republican majority in our state Senate & Assembly are keeping a close eye on the UW system budgets.
Getting extreme would be banning personal exhalations of CO2 ...
Not that school.
