An air traffic controller at Charlotte Douglas International Airport was arrested Friday for having a weapon of mass destruction, a source told WSOC.
Paul Dandan was working in the Charlotte Douglas airport at the time of his arrest, sources say.
Dandan had some kind of explosive, which was not at the airport, sources say.
Dandans roommate was arrested for having bomb-making materials, which were not at the airport.
The Federal Aviation Administration has terminated Dandans access to the airport.

This was Paul. His brother Dan is the normal one.

He looks more Persian to me. (Iranian)

Whay can’t they say “homemade pipe bomb” instead of “weapon of mass destruction?” The former is more descriptive and accurate. The latter implies poison gas, a nuke, a radiative dirty bomb, or a fuel/air device capable of killing in the hundreds to many thousands.

WBTV reports that Fells (the roommate) told police that he made the explosive to use it against a neighbor. The station says that Fells changed his mind and gave the ball to Dandan. The station describes the explosive as being a pipe bomb. "The Ball"??
So possibly Fells stuffed a tennis ball with match heads or gunpowder ("having an explosive or incendiary charge of more than four ounces") to make a Super M-80 to put in his neighbor's garbage can?
This may be a real terrorist attack that was thwarted, or it may be newspaper/LEO hype. Given the escalation of hysteria concerning 'assault weapons' and 'sexual harassment', until more details are available, we have no way of knowing.
